Wouldn't it be better to add a little bit more channeling so the liquid must take a long route around?

It looks quite restrictive.
And will be very expensive to make, that's for sure! 3 part construction, which all need to be machined... lot's of time needed to make one.
So back to the drawing board I'm afraid
