Thumbs down Opinions on a Prometeia Mach II GT

    Hey guys!

I'm currently sick of air cooling and I have someone offering me a phase change unit (the Prometeia Mach II GT) and I wanted to run it past people here and see what you all think?

    Any advice would be great!

It really depends on what you plan on running it on and if it has been modded at all ?
If it's completely "stock", then anything much past a dual core it will struggle with if you are going to clock it.
I have one, but it has a "chilly1" evap a larger condenser and has been charged with r507. But even that struggles to get an 920 much past 4.5ghz.

    I see...

Thanks for that info, I have a 930 (basically revision of the 920) but will be upgrading to the new hexa-core (i7 970) when it is released...

I will find out if the unit has been modded at all but in the mean time, have you got any other suggestions? I have currently got my i7 930 OC'd to 4.01Ghz on air cooling but it hits 100 degrees while rendering which isn't so great

I have the Thermalrite HR-01X... It's about the best air cooler on the market and I have a Noctua fan strapped to it... http://xtreview.com/images/thermalright%20HR-01%20X.jpg

I bought a used mach I on ebay and have tried to mod it to handle a phenom II,
chilly1 evap, bigger condensor, 110cfm fans and r404. Right now am @ 4.6ghz
and it will run 3d mark 06 but if I run prime at this speed things heat up quickly and the system crashes. It will run prime at around 4.5ghz but the temps rise to -24 or so and I am nowhere near the heatload of an I7.
I am currently having a unit built . It costs about the same as what I have in this mach I and is supposed to handle 300w at around -35c.
I suggest you talk to sdumper, He is very knowledgable and he will tell you straight up what you can expect out of your mach II
