should i use these betas or stick to the latest development version in the "all downloads" page?
Main: i7-930 @ 2.8GHz HT on; 1x GIGABYTE GTX 660 Ti OC 100% GPUGrid
2nd: i7-920 @ 2.66GHz HT off; 1x EVGA GTX 650 Ti SSC 100% GPUGrid
3rd: i7-3770k @ 3.6GHz HT on, 3 threads GPUGrid CPU; 2x GIGABYTE GTX 660 Ti OC 100% GPUGrid
Part-time: FX-4100 @ 3.6GHz, 2 threads GPUGrid CPU; 1x EVGA GTX 650 100% GPUGrid
I had 2 tasks ready to report, 2 running ~80% complete and ~6 more downloaded. I suspended them all exited the WCG version of BOINC client and installed the x64 version.
Does this mean i lost the previous progress on my 2 complete & 2 80% complete tasks ? Is there anything i can do to load these tasks again ?
Thanx
I'm sorry to say you haveunless you still have the x86 version, in which case you can just finish off the started projects and then switch to x64!
Thank you for your fast response.
In programs the x86 version is replaced by the new x64 version. How can i choose the x86 to start now ?

Thank you sierra_bound,
There was no project when i started the x64 client, i had to attach first and then no task was already at some % complete, it started downloading new ones.
Same when i installed again the old x86 WCG client.
...Too bad, i lost 2 almost complete packs.
Sorry you lost those unfinished work units. Normally, when you update to a new client, all the work units continue on from where they left off. But since you went from a 32-bit to a 64-bit client, you probably lost all your work.
There is a way to save all your old unfinished work units. On your computer, there should be a BOINC folder called Projects. When you open it up and go to the world community grid sub-folder, you should see all the work units. You can save that folder to a safe place until after you've updated the client.

Newbie to WCG here.. for the may marathon thing...
I'm confused. Sorry. I downloaded off the website and have 6.2.28? ..
There are a TON of different versions of BOINC around. This thread keeps us updated of the very latest versions which are often beta software. If you're unsure or don't want to baby-sit your systems it's safest to use the recommended versions. If you're up for a little risk to your crunching output, and prepared to report back to the developers if/when you have any issues then by all means play with the beta versions.

thanks a lot DA.. I'm sticking with 6.10.18 now then since its the latest actually posted on the website. Though for my main machine i'll go risky with the latet beta since I can keep an eye on it..
Cheers!
OK, i'm confused too...
I downloaded and installed a few days ago the 6.10.43 x64 version, as being the latest recommended at this moment.
Yesterday i added a Q6600 machine and on boinc.berkeley.edu there was 6.10.18 only (All Versions page).
Where did the 6.10.43 go and why ? Does this mean that it is not safe to use ?
It means there may be issues with it that didn't come up till it was in production. That happens sometimes. You really never know it's right till it does the job in the field. Apparently 6.10.43, well ... didn't.

This is what is on the Boinc page:
"BOINC 6.10.43/44 withdrawn
Due to a bug in .43/.44, the currently stable BOINC client has been rolled back to 6.10.18. The bug in question only affects volunteers using GPUs that do not have enough GPU RAM to execute their desired project applications. This bug is fixed in 6.10.46 or newer."
So, i think it doesn't affect WCG, as it doesn't use the GPU.

Well, event viewer says that "atipmdag.sys" was the cause of the restart. Only this system with 6.10.43 has prob. The others use the same version but they're ok.
After Wednesday, i'll investigate it further.
We'll see if my instability has gone away now. I have an HD3850-256MB, so I'm assuming I'd be much more likely to run into the bug. Since returning to .18, I've not crashed. AT first, I was worried about it being a CPU instability; I raised overclock from 3.8 to 4.0 (and added too much voltage imho). CPU's staying at 50C (70F ambient) though I'm not entirely happy about the graphics card being nearly warm enough to boil water (~91C). However, it's been stable so I'll spare judgment. Come end of this challenge, I'll probably pull it out and redo thermal compound. It's a single-slot cooler on there which might be half my trouble with the 75W TDP GPU.

I downloaded the newer x64 client and had worse CPU benchmarks than I do with 5.10.45?![]()
