    xfx 790i ultra motherboard

    ok so i have a question i just bought this board.. got it and i put it in with 2 2 gig sticks of ram. and i bought 2 1 gigs sticks of the same kind same freqency. can i mix them?? like put the 2 2 gig sticks on channle a and putthe 2 1 gigs sticks on channle b or should i put 2 gigs and 1 gig on 1 channle and the other 2 sticks on the other channle?? i hope this is possible. or i just wasited my money.. wil it hurt or burn something up if i went ahead poped them in and try it?? or wil it just not boot up. im running 64 bit windows 7 so itl see it and use it. or use most of it anyways. many thanks

    If the memory is from the same manufacturer and of the same series for both kits, one just being lower capacity, then you will likely be ok.

    man leave it to you to call me out again.. lol first with GTX480 being a low wattage card and now.. lol i forgot to post reply lol...

    yes you can mix ram like that.

    should go both of same size on same channel. so 2gb/1gb/2gb/1gb

    yes it did work. but im haven second thoughts on this.. wouldnt i get better performance if i took out the patriots 1 gig sticks 9-9-9-24 and left in the 2 gig supertalent 8-8-8-24 sticks.. sales the patriots for cheap and in time just get another set of supertalent 8-8-8-24 i heard the 8-8-8-24 are better and 4 gigs would be fine. i really didnt see a performance boose with all 6 gigs in. hmmmmm and when i do this should i take the 2 gigs sticks out and put them in the slots closest to the cpu? or does that matter. right now i have them in the slots furthest.. say if the one by the cpu was 0 1 2 3 i have the 2 gigs in 1 and 3 so if i take them out put the 2 gigs in 0 and 2? i do no some about pcs.. but i just want what u guys think the best way to get the bang of performance.
