I don't now exactly, my setup still doing same score in win7 grade, 7.4 for the disk.

But boot time went down to about 2 or even 3 times faster. Now it just shows the win7 logo an displays the desktop ready to use instantly. (using kaspersky and bluetooh device)

I will run a crystalmark to see if there is any difference.

    Hello again!

    1. Does the new Bios F8f provide any improvements? Does it really shorten boot time?
    2. How do i update the Bios using q-flash (I'd like to avoid @Bios and i don't have a functional floppy drive)? Q-flash doesn't seem to recognize my usb stick, i can only select the floppy disk drive.
    3. What is the Bios option to boot from an USB stick?
    4. What are the proper Bios settings to run my 4 sticks of Kingston HyperX at their advertised speed and latency of 1600 @ CL8? Could you indicate the exact settings that i should change in Bios for this to run without any BSOD's ?
    5. What are the proper Bios settings to run an OC on my P II 965 rev. C2 (the infamous 140W TDP one)? Could you indicate the exact settings that i should change in Bios for this to run without any BSOD's ?

For points 2-5 a description detailed as much as possible (some screen captures would be awesome) is warmly welcome, since I'm inexperienced in respect of OC'ing, I guess because I'm afraid of those dreaded BSOD's ruining my Raid 0 setup.

Thanks a lot for your understanding and for your support.

Just a crappy Sunbeam Core Contact cooler. It works quite well for the $20 I paid for it.

    About to run some tests.

Got into windows @ 4.01GHz/2.8GHz NB.
    Vcore: 1.425
    v-NB: 1.425

About to run prime on it, OCCT doesn't show all 6 cores, but loads all six.

Meh, It's like I thought, I must have a crappy board. My Old 955 BE could barely do +400Mhz on OC, this chip is a bit better but not prime stable @ 4.0GHz. Can't really bump vCore much more since my cooler can't really keep up with that much heat

What about the maximum undervolt for 3.2Ghz? idle & load temps.

the error on prime is not CPU related its from the NB and memory try puting the NB at 2.7 or 2.6 using voltage 1.160 1.180 at the NB and more 200 at the CPU/NB voltage and that error should go away and doing that bump the multi of the CPU for 4.2 and you should be fine and put the memory at 800 and leave the fsb at 200 for now try it like this and it should work good they when you see the parts that need more V you can raise your OC

I'm wondering which programs benefit of 6 cores. Photoshop?

EDIT: I've got the F8g BIOS update (for Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P)! Fast as hell!

just tried the F8g on my board. odd thing is the default vcore is too high 1.475v and I can't seem to disable my Cool n Quiet(mine still downclocks to 800 even if it is disabled)

The default vCore has "2 states" in a sense. What I've noticed is that sometimes it reads 1.475 (which is the vCore it'll use when it's automatically OCing the cores for single threaded tasks). The other one you'll see is when all cores are fairly equally loaded. To set both (at least with the F3L bios I'm using) I have to crash the OC so that motherboards crash free bios kicks in. It's kinda strange.

so i have to crash my overclock to get the crash free bios to work?

Stasio: would you start similar "Latest Gigabyte BIOS" thread for Gigabyte´s AMD motherboards that you have at Tweaktown?

BIOS F7 was doing exact the same, except for that the default was set at 1.4V (stock = 1.35V)

I'll try to explain a bit better, and mind you this is just from observing what my board/bios have done while i've played around with the f8f/g bioses.

Everything below is assuming you are leaving the Core Performance option on (it changes if you turn it off).

On my first bootup vCore was set to auto, which was 1.475. Consider this the "upper end". This vCore will ONLY be used when the CPU is automatically OCing 1-3 cores for higher performance.

The other vcore 1.325 for my chip is what's used when all cores are loaded. The only way I was able to change this setting was to set my OC to high to force a crash, and then turn off/on the computer so that the crash free bios would kick in. It would then let me change the 1.325 voltage setting.

    Hope this makes sense :P

sure, stop the test and see if it idle freezes etc. Then I'd say it is good.

you have to disable the turbo clock feature its in the bios turn it off and does not downclock any more
