Do you happen to know what the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is running? Their listed as 6 members and are now generating about the same amount of points per day as XS team!

Was just wondering how many CPUs they are using, what arch., amount of ram etc,, how many TFlops, didn't find it listed on the top 500 site so I guess its brand new or didn't make the list? Googled but nothing turned up for me.

I must say, you new folks on the team just plain rock!

I've been reading all the new questions, your contributions, and your fresh viewpoints. The team is getting stronger with your help.

I sincerely thank all of you who took the leap of faith and joined us in this cause.

I would hope most of you noticed that this section of the forum is quite special. (I mean the entire "DC" section.) There are very dedicated folks here squeezing every single M Flop they can out of the hardware they have, and are not afraid to re-visit older systems too. Of course, some of us get our hands on the "state of the art" hardware. This task we do is becoming known as the real "crucible" of how future hardware should perform.

My best to all of you,
    Bob

Well, it's a pleasure, finally I can put my pc to good use When buying it I thought it would be used more for private servers of various games I play but after getting hooked to WoW again that idea was gone completely and my cores were sitting idle most of the time, now they're working on hopefully finding cures After installing it on my pc and showing how easy it is to pauze it for a minute in case you need the power for something else my girlfriend immediately agreed to installing it on her pc too

I don't go on the site much to check points or anything, I just randomly check my sig to watch the rank jumps (no clue what rac & fdcrac mean though, lol)
    System 1 (mine):
CPU: i7 920 D0 stable at 4.0 GHz cooled by Scythe Mugen 2000
    GPU: PowerColor HD5850 (950/1250 1.2V)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Memory: 6GB DDR3 GeiL @ 1528 MHz
    System 2 (gf's):
CPU: i7 920 D0 currently at 4.2 GHz cooled by Noctua NH-D14 (needs more tweaking/testing)
    GPU: Club3D HD5850 (awaiting OC)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Memory: 6GB DDR3 Corsair @ 1600 MHz

Iirc... It's Mr. Kermit is the largest contributor. He manages the campus supercomputer. He said he couldn't give out specs as a matter of competition but it's mostly core 2 quads.

Again, that's all from memory so it might not be as accurate as possible.

And on the top 500 comment - there are so many computers not on the top 500. I actually know and have seen a computer that would completely destroy the #1 and 2 spot combined. It's owned by an oil company. I had the privilege to talk to them about it - it's an amazing machine, but they don't release details as a matter of competition. They don't want their competitors knowing what they're running or that they even have it. Not exactly sure what difference it would make to know about that huge computational power, but apparently it's serious enough that they really don't want me talking about it...

Tried to get them to run WCG for us... That's still in talks but not going so well.

    Hey I gotta try right?

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???

Don't know what they're running, but I'm pretty sure the first web browser, Mosaic, was invented there.

From their average stats, they have 272 cores, roughly, averaging about 3.5 hours per work unit. Whatever they have, it's not P4s!

    keep spreading the word

I'm harassing my facebook contacts so hopefully some join or tell their friends.

My machine is crunching away atm. I'm about to get some bfbc2 action so I'll need to remember to PAUSE BOINC! Yesterday I got in game and was like why is my machine a little laggy? Um ya BOINC was running in the background at the same time I was actually able to play Bfbc2. Laggy. Live you learn.

I downloaded the 64bit version and I'm crunching with the machine in my sig. I have forced cool air straight to the front intake of my thermaltake case. My temps peeked at around 54. I'm going to try to clock it up to 3.9 and see what my temps peek at.
