Retail 980X with Gigabyte board plus...

It seems it is my first new thread here.

Got a retail i7 980X for 2 days, with some overclock tested on a non retail board.
I brought it because it has a impressive low voltage compare with other LGA1366 CPUs I never seen before.

    My config
    Intel core i7 980x
    Gigabyte GA-X58AUDxxxx
    Kingston 2000CL8
    Antec TPQ-1200OC
    OCZ Vertex Turbo
    Cooling: water (D-Tekv2 + blackice GTS360 single pass + D5)

First, lowest uncore test (seems some board not adjustable)

seems my config can only run DDR3 1600 with x13 uncore

    3000MHz uncore is lowest for DDR3 2000

    Then some basic bench
    4.4G wprime 32M, 1024M

    4.8G wprime 32M

    With a 5G CPU-z validation,
I know someone can did it with higher result on water too before

How much MHz can it give for 24/7 fully stable?

I think for 7x24, I will run it at about 4500MHz
    1.22V for 4G
    1.4v can run 4.6G 3dmark

I will choose a clock which can run stable with voltage of 1.35v

How much VTT did you need to get to 5000mhz?
Vcore I assume was at 1.5v?

Same here - 980x on chilled water - 4.5 seems good for 24/7, below intel max voltages and temps well under control <60 under load.

Because uncore not running at full speed, as I remember about 3000mhz at that moment, VTT should below 1.3volt.

Vcore is 1.4875 not 1.5v, validation only no need too high voltage.

However, benching with 4.8GHz need about 1.5volt.

    Thanks for the info.
Trying to get an idea of what I'll need to push my X5680's to on the SR2 to get to 5000mhz..

    Yep
I would have replied sooner but the compression explosion device in my motion traction system needed to be replenished with distillation fractionation of fossilisation extraction....
