I don't think you understand what i'am doing..i have more then 100 chess engines..every week you have new releases..i have to choose one
that can use all cores and is freeware!!
If you take Rybka we can go to 2048cores..but is no freeware.
Cyclone is for me now the perfect engine to use..before it was TogaII..i can't change every week!
If this engine is bad and has very bad scaling (bud is not) ..it don't matters because all systems use the same engine, and your result will be compared
with other systems with same settings from the chess program! Very simple!

Robbolito is clearly stonger..but it's only a one core version (for the moment) . So can't test cpu at 100% and the strenght of the engine is useless in this test!
You are thinking as a chess player..here the people using it as a Bench Tool !!
Nobody have problem with it,everybody can use and run my test..so looking great to me!
And if you look how many results i get..i think people like this test also!

Ofcourse this is for fun..everybody has his hobby..you like it or don't like it..you run it or not..very simple..but don't try to find a problem!
People on this forum run all kind off benchmarks..they are very kind and support what people want to do,just a simple test..but it gives me
all the information i want to see,and it gives me a very nice list with all kind of hardware/cpu's!

If you want to talk about chess..then i would go to chess forums where i put my test results from all engines that i'am testing!

Why do you assume I don't understand what you are doing?
Unfortunately, no further meaningful discourse is expected on this matter, as you are clearly too defensive/emotional about "your" test.

    I wish all members-testers a Happy New Year 2010!!!

I get last year again nice results from many people..one thing i didn't get was the AMD Magny-cours..but i don't give up..this year we will see more 6cores cpu's
come out and i hope to see more AMD results!
We see again a very nice speed gain with the comming Westmere-ep & Gulftown cpu's...hmm my next cpu to get i think

Okay..Thanks all for testing, gives me alot information..and who will be my first 2010 result

Can someone provide some clear instructions on what I'm supposed to do with this thing? I don't understand what the official instructions are telling me I'm supposed to be doing, and the one time I submitted a result I got made fun of for being the only person who apparently didn't do it correctly.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Go to "Engine/Configure" and select the number of cores/threads you have. Restart the aplication. Go to Level and select "Infinite". Press spacebar and wait untill you get to 22/49. Make a screenshot. Press space again. Go to "Positions" and select "Copy to clipboard". Paste in a txt file. Attach screenshot and txt file here. Enjoy

No, because I used the older engine, TogaII

You used Cyclone Engine, the new, impproved, even better multi-CPU optimized engine, so you beat Rol-co's result, with something that looks like 163xxxxxxx, first 16 I see in this benchmark I guess. So landmark also broken. Way to go!

Also, if you run TogaII, you probably will beat my result too

Ohh man..you have a dream chess monster for me..i didn't know at first time that you use a dual Westmere-ep setup..and thought he do a mistake in selecting the cores/threads.
But no way..you are clearly the new number one!!

I have talked with movieman..and told me how he has run the test..and i know it can even better!
Thank you very much for your result!

To Particle..also many thanks ,because i know it was not easy for you..and i have put your result in my list even you have go one Depth to low (Normally need Depth 22!)
But it's a AMD result..and i have them too less!

here's a result for you JP

it seems that my efficiency is not that good compared to the others GT
btw idk if it's me but this apps is really sensitive to lowish vcore with an OCed CPU, you don't get a good score for your mhz unless you have enough vcore

i redid teh test, same speed/settings but i close a bunch of stuff on my OS, the difference is quite large.
Looks like it took much less time to come up with those 22 moves than the first time i used to program, is the time supposed to scale with frequency?

And like you said..when you close all programs, also running on the background, you will have a much better time..is logic when the chess engine need 100% cpu!
When you choose "Best performance" in Windows OS you will gain again a few nodes

Now..is the time supposed to scale with frequency? i must say,yes and no..logic higher speed ,less time he need to reach next depth..but it's not always like that, because you
have to many (for the moment endless) combinations-variations in moves he can play.
But of course the faster system will win more games then a slower system with same engine!

This is a chess game and not a fix Benchmark tool..therefore i say to people, only look to the nodes/sec. and how higher nodes/sec. you get how faster your system is with cpu using all cores/threads running @100%.

    List updated!

here's another result for a Phenom II X6 1055T. As of the moment, I can't clock any higher with the turbo on and so far i have no option to disable it so this is just for now.

Thanks imamage & ridney for your result!

They are my first Phenom II X6 ..and looking to their nodes/sec. ,these cpu's do it very well !!

If you compare it with the core i7 920 @3.87Ghz and the one from ridney @3.78Ghz ,you get a nice gain with the extra two cores!
