    Asus Turbo Unlocker Technology Previewed

It seems that Asus is not satisfied with the performance improvements that Turbo Core brings, so the company tries out its own Turbo Unlocker technology.

As a part of Asus TurboV EVO software, the technology can boost performance of Phenom II Black Edition as well as 6-core processors.

According to the slides leaked to Donanimhaber, the technology enables the chip to overclock by 500MHz when one single core is active, by 400MHz when two to four cores are active, and by 200MHz when all the six cores are active at the same time.

Take the Phenom II 555 Black Edition for example, the performance gain could be up to 12.22%. Even in 6-core CPU, Turbo Unlocker boost performance still outperforms AMD Turbo Core around 8% in Sandra test.

Asus 890FX, 890G and 870 motherboards all support Turbo Unlocker technology, while the 890GX boards would require BIOS update first.

I guess ASRock really is a subsidiary of ASUS, their new beta bios for their 890gx board has something called turbo UCC, my guess is something similar to this
    ASRock 890GX Extreme3 BIOS P1.20
    Phenom II X2 555 BE > X4 B55 @ 3.4Ghz
    2x 2 GB G.Skill 1600 CL9 NQ seriies
OCZ Vertex 30GB SSD 1.5 Firmware
WD Caviar Blue 500 Gb HDD
    Antec 200 S case
    Antec Basiq 550W PSU

I think it's safe to say the overclocks will still be more conservative than what a user could do themselves given the effort. If this is done entirely with the BIOS it will be no surprise if every other MB manufacturer implements the same concept eventually.

I am confused about this technology: on the paper, this could be very interesting,
but in fact, I don't understand how it's could work well, simply cause that
Windows (XP, Vista or Seven) don't play the game: if we launch a single thread application like SuperPi,
CPUMark99 or Prime95(on 1 thread), Windows continues to share the load on all cores:

Each core is always at +- 30%
It would be much more interesting if Windows kept the load on one core
when we launches an application; Perhaps there is an option to force Windows to do it,
but I don't know if this option exist.
Also, what about the VCore in this case? Asus don't speak about it...

Those slides seem to suggest that it's a software solution. If so, there's not a whole lot of value there beyond AOD profiles.

If I'm wrong and ASUS has somehow managed to provide hardware-level Turbo Denebs then it's actually pretty awesome.

^i could never get amd profiles to work, so either im just an idiot, or its horribly implemented.
still the question is how well it handles tasks switching cores, it may not be as fast as AMDs turbo, but it may have a way to overwrite windows task scheduleing or help predict it, or just OC some cores knowing the task will be on those cores for some of the time.
