Explanation note: Hypernova just started crunching for our team. But he has 4.5 million total. That includes the crunching he did before joining us. Any points you generate for a team, stay with that team even if you move to another one. But each person keeps his total number of points generated from all the teams he was a part of. I know it's a little confusing. But think of sports. If you're an American football player and score 15 touchdowns for a team and then are traded to another team and score 5 touchdowns there, the first team still gets credit for those 15 touchdowns. The player gets credit for 20 touchdowns total.

Interesting... WCG is currently showing me as being at 12,432 points. To think, that was only about 24 hours of crunching with 4 of the 8 machines at home really going for it. Verification delay, perhaps?

Yes, validation of each work unit can take 1-7 days. You should get a better idea of your daily production by the third or fourth day after you started.

Curious do each work unit get validated by another computer?
Since improper work units can be created by unstable overclocks right?

Further more do I get credit if my Work unit was unstable?
Do I get any feed back stating that my computer is not crunching correctly?

It would be a huge issue because most of machines here are heavily OCed...

It looks like the 'results status' page on the WCG website will tell you if you have an invalid/error/inconclusive workunit and which computer submitted it. My guess would be that those aren't good for credit.

I only run 24-48 hour (depends how patient I am) Prime95 stable overclocks, so I'm not too worried about it. You could always just run a program like Prime95 to determine the possible crunch-worthiness of your overclocked boxes.

Go into the WCG online page for your account, on left hit results tab and then use the dropdown to see what is valid,pending,invalid,etc..
IF you have aq lot of invalids showing time spent on them then I think you have to look at your machines config..
Stable machines should have no issues, unstable ones will.
I'm not immune to this either.
Set up "Dear Olds" AMD 940 machine the other night, kicked it up to almost 3600 and woke up to find it had bluescreened 4 hours into the night.
Dropped it back to default 3000 till I have time to paly with it and get it stable at those speeds..
Yea,not that knowledable a AMD guy but I'm learning..

I have never thrown a WCG Error if my OC can pass 2 hours Prime95 Blend (use custom settings with max available memory).

WCG uses a nunber of different strategies to determine the "validity" of a WU. Some projects have internal checks so only 1 copy needs to be sent out and gets validated (or failed) immediatley after being returned. These projects also randomly send out a second copy 20% of the time to make sure you are still producing valid results compared to another machine. Some projectas start out by sending multiple copies (any where from 2 to 15) to check everyone's results against each other.

A last wrinkle that is not directly associated with validation but does confuse people is the HCMD2 project. As you process the WU if you are not finished at 6 hours of processing it checks to see if you are at least 60% complete. If you are not it stops then and the remaining pieces get folded into a new WU. If you have passed 60% it lets you continue until you are finished or you have processed for 12 hours at which point it will stop and the remaining pieces go into a new WU. In either case of a stoppage you will be credited for all of the work you have done. A side note to processing time is that is actual CPU time and not "wall clock" time. If you are running a newer version (6.20 or higher) the runtime listed in the Advanced View of BOINC Manager is "wall clock" time. If you want to see actual CPU time on a WU, select the WU and then click on the Properties button to the left.

That would need its own WCG project to add up numbers that large
