made a run to home depot today to pick up some supplies, i should be placing an order at Johnstone Supply later this week to get everything else. Here are some slightly wet supplies (i went through the worst storm I have ever seen here comming back, coudnt see more than 4 feet infront of you on the freeway) Oh and i managed to find another compressor, not sure what im going to do with it yet...
Good luck man. Ive got that compressor as well but have not put it to use. Cant wait to see how your rig turns out
went ahead and compleated the mounting board...
Whats the stuff on the left? Whered you find the flaring tool in Home Depot? And is that the TS4000 torch? Mines awesome
Use the other compressor as a vacuum pump.
Do you need a bussiness account to order at johnstones?

Yea, I probly will be doing that.
Im not sure to be honest, but i think you should be able to order online pretty easily... where did you pick up your stuff from?
So far I got all my stuff from rparts.com. Gota go ebay hunting for a recovery tank, vacuum pump, and some other stuff...

hmmm, Propane...
ill probably be using that on mine also, is there a special kind you need to use? like a high purity propane? or does any old propane get the job done?

ok, i drew this up real quick (can ya tell?) anything im missing? The cap tube forumula is right as far as i can tell. (going for 200w)
The drawing looks fine though some people like the high side valve before the condensor though and maybe the cap is a bit long I worked out about 5 feet and if you are going propane about 4 feet.![]()
Cheers.

Other than the captube which I dont know how to size it looks right. Put the highside valve before the condensor tho.

ahh thanks, guess i screwed up the gas calculations, So I guess ill start with 4.5 and tweak it from there...Originally posted by Omega1

is there any way to experiment with cap tube lengths without having to re-braze and re-charge your system? Sounds like a very time consuming part of tuning a system to its best...

Nice Chong, what temps are you expecting with the Propane?
OPP
The high side access is not strictly needed, but is a plus when evacuating or fine tuning. It can be on either side of the condenser, but is more accurate for trouble shooting and fine tuning purposes at the condenser outlet. The best would be a frontseating service valve at the condenser outlet, which can be used for pumpdown as well as access.
When sizing the cap tube (and everything else) everyone seems to skim over the all important key question in system design, i.e "What is your heat load?".
