I've always liked graphs that slope upwards. Results returned are way up, partly because the HCC work units are shorter now and many here are crunching that project.

Thinking about finally setting up my fileserver and make it crunch too, still have to install it on my gf's pc.

GPU: PowerColor HD5850 (950/1250 1.2V)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Memory: 6GB DDR3 GeiL @ 1528 MHz
System 2 (gf's):
CPU: i7 920 D0 currently at 4.2 GHz cooled by Noctua NH-D14 (needs more tweaking/testing)
GPU: Club3D HD5850 (awaiting OC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Memory: 6GB DDR3 Corsair @ 1600 MHz

Think I'll be working on both pc's this weekend to see how high they can go for 24/7 crunching.
Mine's sort of at my limit in terms of temperature, 72°C hottest core @ 3.9 GHz

That is the plan and hope, just takes maybe 30-40,000 people from Xs to make it happen.
I've had some people toss numbers at me and say it's not possible but they are the people that see the glass as 1/2 empty while I know for a fact that XS has the power to fill that glass till it overflows!

WCG manager estimates 56 hours for my PPro's first WU. Does that even meet the general deadline?
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.
Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!
Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
Most WCG subproject WUs have a 10 day deadline, I think HCMD2 may have been upped to 14 days so you should be fine.
At 18:00 UTC today BOINStats showed us at 9.01 m for the previous 24 hours so I think by the time WCG rolls the stats tonight (it usually finishes posting about 1:00 - 1:30 UTC) we will be at least that high and likely a bit more. We need a definative answer to the "what color is number 9" ... graphemes please report in <j/k>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesth...-simner2005-20
"many synesthetes themselves do not perceive their synesthetic experiences as a handicap. To the contrary, most report it as a gift—an additional "hidden" sense—something they would not want to miss"
perhaps we could use the most common number/ color scale amongst grapheme perception as our scale.![]()

Is there anyway to view our team stats by member? By that I mean can we see a list of members and see how we rank amongst ourselves? Maybe get a little competition going. ; )

Wow.. 9 million is awesome!
BTW, just a heads-up: One of my network switches died, so until I can get it replaced, half my farm is crunching into cache. I won't be home until Sunday either, so seize the chance to score some pie!![]()
