Help. BSOD BCcode 101

So I keed getting BSOD and BCcode 101, Some places have said its an overheading core others have said it's a bad CPU. So I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I watch my temps and they seem fine. I will have my water cooler on there this weekend so temps wont' be a problem. but if it is a faulty CPU then I need to take it back. Any help would be great. thanks!

Okay, So if i fool around with my memory timings I might be able to get it stable. Which is what it should be since voltages are stock.

oh yeah, I thought those all 3 applied to it. Why would it need more voltage at stock...shouldn't this thing run the way it's supposed to.

Sometimes it's best to set the voltages manually on motherboards to intel spec. Give that a try!

Ya, sorry to confuse you there. I just put all three up for your reference is all, you need more Vcore for 101 error.

Your BIOS default voltage shown when in Auto in the BIOS should be default, set that manually or a bit above.

Well, I am still getting random crashes. I primed95ed for an hour and nothing. not a single thing happened. then I play BF2 and it crashes. twice within 30 min. So I thought maybe my video card. I used Furmark and watch the temps. Nothing! Everything is fine. I think it just might be faulty. THe last thing I am going to try is with some DDR3 Triple Channel ram instead of the Dual channel I have. If it still crashes I guess I'll have to get a replacement. It's only 2 weeks old so I should be able to go to the store and exchange it.

Does it BSOD when it crashes? Sounds like incorrect settings still to me, I don't know Asus BIOS so I really can't help there, but I can say 1 hour of prime95 isn't going to tell you much. You need to prime for 12-24 hours to see if you are stable, and even then you may not be fully and should still also perform other tests to be sure such as HCI Memtest x 3-4, and LinX or IBT.

Of course your game that keeps crashing you is also a good stability test, but you need to be stable in those other programs first before you can decide if something is faulty based on your game crashing, and even then it still may just be settings.

Yeah, it BSOD everytime. First this wierd sound starts comign out of my speakers, kind of like a humming. Then it stops and my games starts to get choppy, the noise comes back and lines go across the screen. Then the BSOD appears and starts dumping files. yada yada yada I have to restart it. I have been playing games and it would crash, this happened in BF2 and GTA4. It even happened when I was on the desktop. Just watching a video on youtube. I left everything at stock settings and increased the voltage just a bit and It still happened. I have never run into a problem where I have had a computer crash and I havn't even done anything to it yet lol

TRD mem timing too tight can cause 3d apps to 101 BSOD even if you are completely stable at desktop testing.

Sounds memory or memory controller related to me.

You can try increasing qpi/dram to 1.25 and dram to 1.65 and see if that helps. If so you have your answer, if not its something different.

Couple of things there for you to try anyway. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be hunting a stock clock instability. I firmly believe its related to memory in some way though.

I have only seen BSOD 101 myself with Vcore, but then again my memory and related are always stable so that may be why I only see it with Vcore.

You may need way more QPI/Vtt depending on your setup and speeds, and other settings. Even at stock CPU speed, depending on your memory itself, memory multi, uncore multi, the memory speed and timings, QPI Multi used, and your CPU itself you may need 1.25-1.4+ QPI/Vtt.

So if you are only using a little bit of QPI/Vtt or Vdimm, then PiLsY's thoughts may be true and may be why you are getting a 101 BSOD.

You could easily test that by setting the Vcore very high, then play your game. If it does not crash then you know the 101 BSOD was Vcore, if it crashes still then PiLsY was right, and you have something memory related that needs adjustment

A clock interupt was not recieved on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval

That is what appears on the BSOD when I get it. I thought I had it worked out by changing my ram timings around becasue it hadn't crashed in a couple of days but now it has crashed twice within 15min with this error appearing. Any Ideas?

It seems that your CPU has been overpumping when u tried 4.4GHz and now even with the stock setting it also needs higher vcore.

In my opinion, set your vcore @ 1.25v and QPI/DRAM @ 1.25v, vdimm @ 1.66v. If it BSOD again with the code 101, pump vcore +0.025v and try.

Okay, here is my problem now. I put my CPU into my brothers system. The same error came up. So i said "yay!" it's my cpu. Brought it back got a new one. Well guess what! It happened again! I don't knwo what to do. How could it happen in my computer and his and not be the cpu? Any suggestions?

Asus auto settings for Vcore have always been very good with all the boards I've owned from them. I can't remember stock Vcore for your CPU but look on the box it came in, it'll tell you on there. Whatever it says, set that Vcore in BIOS and see how it holds up. If it still falls over, take the CPU back or RMA it to intel.

Well, this time when it happened there was no error code, and on the BSOD it never dumped any files. All it said was " A clock interupt was not recieved on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" I restart and there is no error code this time. I'll get my settings for you and post them later.

Hey guys! Hope this thread isn't dead yet. I've got the same issues going on.
I recently did a new build and keep getting this BSoD error as well.

I've re-installed windows and I've updated the drivers. The only driver that i need to update is the CPU driver from the intel website which I'll be doing today. I've done a Memtestx86 test on it and left it on at night. No problems.

I've got a cooler master Hyper 212+ installed on the CPU
So far my temps max is at 36C.

I don't know what to do guys I've been looking everywhere for help and this problem is also happening to me. I get a weird buzzing noise from the speakers and everything gets frozen. I've got to restart my computer. I don't think it's a defective CPU but like i said, if you guys could help I'd really appreciate it.
