At this web resolution I would say that your Sony A700 photos are superior to those 7D.. (or simply put I like them 5% more). Btw. do you still own A700 and those lens?

I agree. The a700 did outdoor shots way better. The colours were much nicer.
    It's a Minolta thing!
All the Minolta AF lenses built in the 80s were built with metal and like tanks.
And they were all pretty good lenses.

Canon seems to charge quite a bit for ty lenses. And the older lenses are just garbage unless it was an L. Even then it's just mediocre. The newer updated L's are nice though!

    Any suggestions?

i would usually agree with Elisha but i use canned air, just have to be careful and gentle.

shoot some canned air outside the camera to make sure none of the liquid comes out, NEVER turn the can on its side or upside down.
just squeeze the trigger a little to shoot some air in there, just dont go full blast.

the red and green dots are not dirt or anything that can be cleaned, those are stuck pixels and must be factory repaired or remapped to not show up in pictures.

go buy some good dSLR sensor swabs that are made to fit the sensor size of the d40, (it will say what camera they fit or ask your camera store guys)
and a bottle of cleaning fluid.

just google "how to clean a dSLR sensor" and you will see lots of videos and products to buy.

the red/green pixels wont go away though, but it will clean the dust off.

    Start by using B&W film.

My new UWA. As you can see here the Olympus 21mm f/3.5 ranks very high and is low priced. (Got mine off KEH for $400 in EX condition. The lens is basically new.)

I don't know how you guys do it with MF lenses. I'm a pretty goof MF'er since I used to own a Ricoh KR-5 Super and an Oly OM-10 but I really can't get myself to go back to it unless I'm doing macro which is hardly ever!

Yeah but the Canon LV is dirt slow. The Panny/Oly and Sony have awesome LV.

LV is fine on my 5DMKII and I usually use the VF (no more tiny APS-C VF's for me).

VF without split prism? Thats really possible? (just curious cause I wanted same thing on A900 which has really big VF)

I've actually always despised split prisms since they screw up composition. Also the reason why I don't have a rangefinder for either film or digital at the moment (it's way more accurate but still can ruin composition).

I've done fine for manual focusing with my 5DMKII, 201F, F3HP, OM-4, etc...

All you need is a good focusing screen and some practice.
