FYI, a lot of ATI partners include Turkey in their European channels, for example the Sapphire office in Turkey is in their South European branch which is headed by Italy (which sells less cards than Turkey )
Where did I say anything about politics? Show me. I just told that Turkey is geographically in middle-east.

And as I said, I do not believe that there is so much cards available as you say.

Yeah, I be interested in seeing how many actually hit both retail and OEM. But wait, is there any OEM derivatives yet? I've not read of any yet.

sorry I've got to bring this up.

Most layman computer users, wouldn't know the difference between a gpu and cpu. The original statement is right, while ATI have the 5 series, Nvidia can't jack prices high.

#1 tip, if you hear a rumor - check the source:

The GeForce GTX 480 is joined by the GeForce GTX 470 as the first products in NVIDIA’s Fermi line of consumer products. They will be available in mid-April, from the world’s leading add-in card partners and PC system builders. The remainder of the GeForce 400-series lineup will be announced in the coming months, filling out additional performance and price segments.

Here's what will happen: Products will be sold out for the next couple of weeks due to massive pre-order sales. Once that's cleared and inventory is balanced at etailers, Chuckles will write that the only reason you can buy one is because people don't want to buy them.

But inventory is not going to be a problem. Some partners had product for sale this week, a week earlier than expected.

Well there have been preorders available on and off since the 25th. IMHO that makes the "1600 cards total" figure impossible.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Here is what I think, if there is significant quantities being sold we will see a pretty nice drop in prices on the 5000 series cards. Not including the prices we've already seen (the cards been out for over 6 mos so a drop is expected).

That will be the true sign (at least for me) that doesn't suggest "low availability" when we only see it a few seconds at retailers or a few here and there get one. But again, I will wait and see what develops.

Thats very nice, but this thread and article have nothing to do with the release date of the Fermi, just about how few there are going to be at first.

Its pretty obvious news really, I cant understand how people can get so worked up over reading it.

Nvidia really blew it this generation. I had always bought Nvidia cards for over 10 years. The 5870 is my first ATI card since...I can remember. I was even holding out if Fermi came out in March I probably would have tried an Nvidia card but too much delay, too much problems, reviews are marginal...so

I am sticking with ATI 5870 for this generation. Nvidia needs to re-evaluate their business model as I loved OC'ing that old 6800 but now Nvidia is blowing it =(

    Memories

I had a pair of Leadtek 6800s (non GT / Ultra) that ran at 425 / 900, almost GT speeds but just with 12 pipelines.

    I want that Nvidia back.

Are you guys serious, 8000s era Nvidia blows the 6000s Nvidia out of the water competition wise

Go complain about your disapointment in Nvidia somewhere else, this is a thread about retail availability.

You talk about NV like they PROMISED you they would make the BEST CARD EVAR!!!1!!1!one!!11!!111 They are not obliged to do or make anything.

This will definitely drive the prices up. And 58xx cards will still be quite expensive. So does Fermi bring progress, or the lack of it? I'm not sure anymore.

i still like to blame tsmc more than anyone. but its hard to tell how different things would have been if their fab wasnt doing so bad. would we have fermi for xmas? would prices be down 100-200$ lower than they are now? guess we will never know

I'm guessing we will only see a handful of forum regulars around the net with these cards within 2 months. And a bunch of new members showing up to try and prove how great availability is. Curious that will be. There is nothing I've seen to even think about trusting anything out of its pr or focus group plants to trust a word from them. They've been strining everyone along for 8 months. Charlie is a far more accurate source than nv has been. Period. And they can spin the sold out status at etailers in so many ways it'll make people dizzy. Still don't understand why anyone would want one in the first place though.

Two major AIBs have allocated less than 100 cards each for Europe - not per country...

But thats when I got my 3850 crossfire at £72 per card though and got converted to budget crossfire =D.

Also back then, to use SLI you needed to have an Nvidia motherboard, and they were nowhere near as good as Intels P35 / X48. I didnt use any SLI motherboards after the A8N-SLI, up until my current X58.

Half of Turkey is in Europe, the other half is not....geographically speaking
Anyway, back on topic, Charlie is right, but also wrong. nVidia have missed their targets, however I believe Charlie has either pressed the wrong button on his calculator or added a few 0's to add emphasises to the story.
Quite a few e-tailers in the UK will be shipping out cards come Monday (The Official European Launch).

    nVidia have missed their targets?
nVidia's declared target was to surpass AMD's Evergreen launch numbers.

The Charlie hate is strong in this thread....

What I don't really like is the second paragraph in the OP.
That sucks badly, forcing stores to buy lots of crap to get a few 480s and 470s.... disgusting.
