Yeah, what I write is a little exaggerated at times and it shouldn't always be taken literally, but it's a style that I've decided to go with. I feel that it gets the point across better, and nobody should feel offended.

I'd really recommend Nikon if you want the best handling cameras with great ISO performance and Canon 2nd. Canon has slightly better lens selection (especially the 200mm f/4, come on Nikon!) but worse layout of controls and ergonomics.

My first shot with Lightroom (L3 Beta) to process the image and I have no clue what I am doing, but I did manage to clean this shot up a little just playing around.

Nice shot I would say. Im using only LR3 beta since it started, pretty usefull.

Canon actually has more ergonomy for me as it simply fit my hands perfect.. but I dont like that company, neither their "design" or attitude towards customers. Nikon doesnt fit perfect, but I like them bit more.. but 12 mpix with less resolution than my old Panasonic G1 isnt exactly something I want. And I really dont have money for D3X.

Which leaves me Pentax and Sony. Sony is in consideration too, especially after A900 price went really down.. Plus layout is near perfect (perfect was on Minolta 7D, but its quite similar ). Pentax is made for photographers, at least seemed to me, some of their top lenses are easy comparable to everything else (at least if you think about APS-C, no FF yet and probably never again..).

Wish I bought M9, when I had money for that. Now Ill just wait and see.. maybe I will just get back to Panny and buy G2.

tarowah, nice shot, i love the deep greens, white whites and the orange center of the flower.
some would say its too much but if you think about it, when you are looking at it with your eyes, those greens whites and oranges are probably not far off from your picture.

if you have the chance try it with slower fstop so that more of the picture comes out focused, and maybe get the camera lower to the ground so you have some background to the picture. unless the background is just yucky and doesnt make the picture look good.

another way would be to be above it so your looking down and just get the flower bed in the picture.
you caould even try being flower height and doing a faster fstop, maybe 2.8 or faster to get some nice DOF.

I'm sorry, but Sony's DSLRs just do not compare to current Canon and Nikon offerings.

i think Elisha has proven with his past pictures that your statement is not true.
i would agree they are not equals but "not comparable" is an exaggeration.

    Weevil thats really nice shot

Soulburner if you dont mind having only 6mpix and using old dSLR, even Konica-Minolta 7D is comparable to Canon/Nikon. Sony is bit harder on users, but if used correctly, you can get images similar to D3X from A900/850. And for example Zeiss 24-70 f/2.8 is easily comparable to Canon or Nikon lens (superior to Canon ones). Only build quality should be better (bit too much plastic).

Current Nikon offering consist of "We give you quite good 12mpix in every price range you want."

Current Canon offering is "We will give you nice range of mpix and cameras, which are crippled various ways to not harm our flagships."

Sony attitude is to having two flagships which dont cost leg or arm (and actually have very nice capabilities) and crazy numbers of cloned mid-low range dSLR.

Pentax would be "We will give you best available for that price. And designed with photographers in mind."

Yea and I suggest looking at heads of each company, I wouldnt give a penny to some of them.

Anyway, as long as it works decent in A or M mode and has some decent sensor and ability to use some quality glass, its good.

Hey now...don't be dissing the Sownee....They have some amazing lenses. CZ 85, 135, 16-35 and 24-70. And the older Minolta G's are still awesome compared to any older Nikkor or Canon.
The only thing Sony lacks is high ISO capability.
Their AF is awesome but could use more AF points than 11.

Elisha plus old KM lens have really nice colors.. at least your pictures made by Sony A700 have them. Now your pics have sometimes tiny bit of green tint. But I guess nobody with sRGB monitor will see that, which means most ppl. Btw. great portrait as usually..

hale88 Hard to say, what about some EXIF? It can be caused by camera, high ISO or out-of-camera JPEG.

I notice a difference in displays when I edit a photo on my laptop, and then later look at it with my desktop, I tend to over-do the colors..

Yeah the Canon gives me a colour cast compared to the Sony for sure.
On the Sony I did not need to do colour correction, just enhancement.
On the Canon, I have to do correction first then enhancement and it sometimes just pisses me off!
