Ok bit the bullet and paid with tax/shipping $222.48 for the G.Skill 2x2gb ddr3 2200 Cas 7 Pi's (well ok $4 back later thru Bing)...
    The cpu/TRUE bracket/mobo was less at $204...
Will start assembling next week when all the parts arrive...

cpuz version 1.53.5 reports cas correctly.so does version 1.53.4 and version 1.53.3 updated released 15.02.2010
there just still isnt the option to validate with these newer versions.i use cpuz 1.53.1 just to validate my OC's
but its with the wrong cas.

    Got this i3 530 ( L939B674 ) from microcenter for $89 to play with

    i3 530 @ Water
    GA-P55-UD3L v1.0 , BIOS F5
    4Gb A-Data 1600G
    5850 @ Stock Cooling
    PSU SilverStone OP1000 , 1000W
    Swiftech Apogee XT + Swiftech MCP655 +BIP II 2x120mm

Not a very good chip - with default voltage won't load windows 4GHz > BSOD , can't complain about price though $89
Stable 4.51GHz @ 1.45v but fails Linx after 5-7 min

With portable A/C blowing on WC'ing rad :

    SuperPI 1M : 5GHz @ 1.64v
    SuperPI 32M : 4.9GHz @ 1.62v
    3DMark : 4.75 ~ 4.80GHz

1.35 VTT is enough for up to 258 Bclk

If you aren't using the IGP then undervolting it perhaps can lower temps

    ok! thanks
I use H55M-USB3, in bios "advanced bios features" select option onboard VGA enable if no ext peg (disable onboard GPU if GPU exists in the peg slot)...

if I use IGP will be activated...
    I check undervolting heheh

My H55M-USB3 max BCLK 230 IGP disabled, with IGP enabled max BCLK 225

yea since i wasnt using the integrated graphics i dropped it
to its lowest voltage in hopes of dropping some heat but didnt
notice any drop in cpu temp, but the GMCH temp dropped 2c.

    @Gorod.very impressive results.my i3-530 needed 1.35vtt
for 250bclk too.these cpu's are fun clockers for the price, they really
cant be beat.thanks for leaving your batch number.what is the default
    vcore of your chip?

radaja CPU-Z shows 1.136v when vcore set to normal in bios and 1.1625 in BIOS

Temps with water cooling @ normal room temp under Linx :

2.93 @ def. vcore (normal in bios)
    4.51 @ 1.45 in bios

Sorry if this has been answered or maybe it has not but I did not want to start a new thread on this...Any way of overclocking clark's lil's sis arran?

Just got a new laptop with an arrandale (i7 620m) that replaced a penryn (t9800)...Im pretty happy with the upgrade. Cpu-z shows the CPU mostly running at is 2nd and 3rd turbo stage between 3.06-3.2ghz which is 23x and 24x multis respectively..I know I can't use RMclock on these nehalem based cpus like I used to on my good old penryn...I used to lock the p-state so it'd always run at the 11x mutli...

Is there anything like that out for arrandale? I don't really need to overclock it, I'm just interested in at least running turbo speed 24/7 (I guess its oc'in since its a higher multi??) or locking the multi..Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Here's the lowest end part I've ever owned
Intel sent me a Core i3 540 ( Thanks Dan! ) to review & overclock the sh.t out of
I'm currently finishing the measurements for the review, and then I'll check what it can do with dry ice & liquid nitrogen.
With a little cooler ambient temp ( ambient's about 26C these days in my testing room, need to get a new compressor for the AC unit ) it should be 4.5GHz infinite LinX stable

    CPU info
    Model: Intel Core i3 540
    FPO/Batch #: L939B755

    Cooling
ThermalRight Ultra-120 Extreme ( not lapped ) and an Antec 120mm TriCool fan at Medium setting
    Arctic Silver Ceramique of course

    Some screenshots:

well i've got another i3-530 on the way,i was so tempted to just get an i5-750 for the better memory performance
but i decided on the i3-530 for its pure OCing fun.and went with a better kit of ram than my last set.
    i got these
    G.SKILL PIS Series F3-17600CL7D

they should give me lots of OC headroom
i just hope my new i3-530 has a good IMC like my last one did.if not i'll either get another i3-530 or the i5-750

why are the memory timing incorrect on all cpuz and everest versions i've tried? this is with biostar TH55, TH55B, gigabyte H55M-S2H, and H55M-UD2H. btw, link to CPU-Tweaker is invalid

EDIT: nm i found it it's not cpuz that's bad, it's the incompatibility of the mobo and memory. for some reason, when i set the timing in the bios, it won't "stick" and keep the timing like how i set it. after using CPU-Tweaker to set tighter timing inside windows, it also shows correctly in cpuz, so it's probably all 4 of my mobos. bad bios

Hey Dragon, the latest cpu-z shows the correct timings. Here is the $100 combo from fry's this weekend. I have no need for this, just couldn't resist

hey [XC] 4X4N, looks like you have the same mobo. yes timing shows up correctly, but i can't set them correctly in the bios. when i set it at 7-7-7-16, they automatically tighten up to 6-7-7-16, and when i set it to 6-6-6-14, they're still 6-7-7-16. can you manually set them around these timings to see if they still show up correctly? i think it may be the board.

btw, 4.1ghz needs 1.33v? is that a bad chip?

I have set those timings in bios, auto puts them at 10-11-11-24 and 2N

Ya, not a great chip. I have llc disabled, vcore drops to 1.276 or so at load.
