so how did some manage to get 235-283 BCLK?

Maybe you need better cooling Cryptik, Uncore is usually cooling related... Dice or LN2 will get you over 30K
Why not run two PSU's ? We used two PSU's for benching with the Gulftown...
Lucky board and CPU combined with good cooling... nothing more nothing less. our RE II is limited at 225Bclock... Tried with 4 different CPU's under LN2 and all biosses... it just stops at 225Bclock... major bummer for an enthousiast board... hoping the RE III is a warranted 240 Bclocker

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree

Hello,
I have i7 965 OC at 25x160 right now but qpi is at 5.77 gts , voltages in auto as I don't know much yet.
can I just go to the bios and put 22.50 x 180 ? or that will increase memory freq too? i have 1600 with xmp profile. Is that simple to get qpi to normal which in my case has to be 6.4 gts!
though wierd thing intel utility says my expected qpi = 4.8 gts reported = 5.77 gts I thought i7 965 qpi default = 6.4 gts
Thanks for any help in advance!
I was only at 1.35 Vtt, so 3920 MHz was all it wanted to do with the CPU close to 4.6 GHz. This is just my workstation, so it won't be seeing any better cooling than it's got now. It does get very hot though at 4.6GHz, 3DM06 CPU tests push it close to 80*C and that's with an EK HF and Feser 480 with 1600rpm scythes. My PSU is fine, it was the other guy with PSU issues.
I also hope the R3E has significantly better BCLK abilities than the R2E.
Ezequiel - that initial value is sometimes lower than the rest, sometimes it's not. It's normal for that to happen in my opinion.
Actually the 283 bclck was submitted by me
But i don't think it was because of the board...it was actually a spike when i use the joystick to increase from 219mhz to 220...upon reaching 220, PC when into crazy mode(but didn't reboot or blue screen) spiking BCLCK occurs constantly making using the PC literally unusable...
Yap...Me too suffers from similar problems, at 219 it is almost rock solid with more than a dozens of stability test hours, but once I move the clock 1mhz more (to reach 220) then it went bezerk
Its nothing really...its just for fun of making people wonder![]()

is it safe to use the Live Tweak overclocking system when running windows?
Is it really the mobo that is the wall for BCLK or rather the CPU's in question? I mean have we tested these exact CPU's on other mobos to confirm or have we used known high BLCK capable CPU's pulled from other systems to test on here?
2nd, as for the LLC feature. Why is it such a bad thing to get the lil' increase under load as opposed to having to crank it up for idle just to maintain stable vcore needed under load? In reality, how many daily hours are we really keeping our machines pinged to max under load and if so how much of a temp increae if any is it really? I personally use now, and have been overclocking with LLC Enabled since the early days of X38 with Q6600 and let me say in my experiences with that core and chipset, I welcomed it. If not enabled you now need to crank up your vcore so it idels at a few steps above what will be needed to keep stable since the droop will cause it to drop instead of increase. But if just for testing, we do what we gotta' do
Keep in mind, this is more of my personal experience and opinion. I found it helped in my past and present overclocks to keep idle vcore and temps lower.

I've tested several CPU's on my R2E and it is the same with all of them 224 is fine and rock stable but 225 no post.
CPU tested: 920 D0, W3520, 2x 980x ES(Q3FE and Q3QP) and one 980x retail.
I have got my 980X retail LinX stabel at 4,7 GHz, but as you all know the 980X has an unlocked mulitpler.

Hey everyone.. im desperately looking for some info
I was just wondering about the new 32nm Xeon 56xx series and if the RIIE supports them ?
I really want to get the 5650
thank you !
kind regards
P.S. - Also might get a 5630 as well .
2.53ghz with a multi of 19 but also has a Turbo of 2.8ghz which means it has a 21 multi as well.
Seems to be a decent option for some relatively cheap fun.
Waht I meant to specify is testing with completely different model CPU's as in most cases, one model is just FSB wall imited in itself outside motherboard. In example, when I had this challange w/ my Q6600 on the x48 Rampage Ex most would say it hit a wall at 480 - 500 - 505. But then I got a Q9550 and it went beyond 525 easyily. In this case we should test w/ comparing the newer 930 against the old 920 or 950 to 940 or better yet 950 to old 920 and see if this helps. I'm thinking it's more of a CP FSB limit for now untill we get a new revision internal memory controller. But of course we can't really confirm without using another board of simular specs. I'd try on a DFI.
Also keep in mind, most CPU's will need some vcore and QPI & maybe a little PLL help to at least get to stock sped (ie: a 930 @ 234*12= 2.808, or 224*12 for an older 920).

Currently on BIOS 1802 930, just recently on BIOS 1406 when I 1st got the 930 and before on 1204 w/ my 920. Oddly enough it booted just fine w/ the 920 and BIOS 1406 even though the ASUS update indicated it wasnt supported yet a 950 i had for testing was. I sort of left it there and just recently moved to 1802 so I cant confirm anything new for 1639. For some reason my ACPI S3 doesnt work again but I may do a clean install w/ Windows 7 Enterprise instead of 7 Pro to confirm if it fixed.

I have a question , where to get the Asus Turbo V evo soft? , my RIIE came with the asus turbo V with limited to non functionallity , means i cant change much other than the BCLK and the Vcore.
did i miss something there? i've searched everywhere already and no way to find the EVO version that seems more complete and functional than the traditional turbo V
PS : i just tested , with a multiplier of x16 i can reach a BCLK of 221 max stable with a 108 PCI FREC , 1.40 IOH , and 1.30 ICH . Which is better? 221*19 or 200*21?

Yes it's the mobo in my case. I had my pc apart and my mate was building his new pc. I took my CPU over, and it booted and ran SPI32M at 234 BCLK on air with his UD7. I can't get 221 BCLK stable on this RIIE, and 222+ won't even POST.
About the vcore increasing under load, my criticism has got nothing to with CPU temps. It's to do with the cleanliness of the voltage supplied to the CPU and how LLC degrades this. If you could see what is happening with an oscilloscope when using LLC compared to LLC off, you'd be shocked I assure you. The more it rises under load the worse it gets.
If anything, as I said before, the max LLC setting should keep the voltage the same from idle to load, or ideally, a slight droop of say 0.01v. This should ensure better stability, cleaner voltage, faster settling time and less ringback than having it rise 0.02 - 0.03v under load. These issues can actually cause instability despite having a higher voltage, so it can be counterproductive.
My recommendation for LLC would be:
Stock (LLC off): 0.05v droop
LLC Level 1: 0.03v droop
LLC Level 2: 0.01v droop

Hey Domagojx , What temps are you getting with that 4.6 on air my gosh....
I have a Thermalright ultra 120 extreme with 2 fanholders and 2 scythe 1900 RPM push pull setup and im getting the 84 grades at 4.2 + 2k mem on full load ,
Are those temps normal or my thermalright is performing like hell? im using the Tuniq-TX thermalpaste with the little drop on the middle technique.
PS :

My God only 70 º at full load with 4.6?
i believe something is wrong with my TRUE then... because it has 2 fans , both are scythes , one is the sflex push , and a scythe slipstream for the exaust. with the fanholders.
as i told you before mine does 84 to 89 º full load. in a 21 grades enviroment temperature and the next settings
4.2 GHZ + 2K MHZ MEM.
1.312 V core
1.54 QPI V
1.90 CPLL
1.65 VRAM FREC
What could it be? this is worring me.
