Mine should be in tomorrow. I'm running an Andy Samurai Master on an Athlon 64 X2 5200+ at stock speeds. Was considering seeing what that monster could do with something small, just for kicks and grins. It's just the first step of a larger hardware update.

this thing is pretty big for sure with the dual fans...I wonder though if it would help if we put another fan on the other side of the fins???? too much fithing between fans im assuming?

3 fans is better than 2 imo! I'm going to set mine up with three fans, the 140mm in the middle and two 120mm on the ends.

are you going to get the same model 120mm fan on the other side?

I have it with 3 fans and I think some test have shown that it does help, specially when going with higher vcore.
I have a San Ace push/ Scythe middle and Delta pull.
I am planning to get stronger Deltas for push and pull that I can then tame with a fan controller but still have very strong CFM plus a delta 25mm for the middle fan...yeah, I like overkill! :-)

No probably not. But I will use similar strength fans on each side. One will be a ZM-F3 (push) at full speed and the other will be a GentleTyphoon (pull) AP-15 at full speed.

I have it now in the computer and I have to say this is the most air breeze I felt (with hand) on a air cooler ever...pretty impressive. My output fan on the rear pulls the air out pretty good from the heatsink itself so I dont think I will be putting another fan on the heatsink, but overall very, very quiet for sure. so quiet its like water cooled....

    Here I am facing problems in temperature i7 920 D0 Batch 3910A261 in a Noctua NH-D14, temps is at 50 ~ 55 ş C idle stock clock (Tj Max 100 ş C).

Someone can tell me what could be? Case (CM 690 w / 6 fans 70CFM/19 db (A)) is well ventilated, 50 ~ 55 ş C in a cpu cooler that is complicated.

I tried to update the BIOS and not resolved.

This temperature is not normal for a cpu cooler that level, right?

    Thank you !

Must be mounted wrong. Try remounting, also what TIM are you using?

I've tried to set up another four times the cooler and reapply the thermal compound NT-H1 and AS5 and no improvements in temperature. Ambient temp 28°C.

Question to any Noctua owners out there: Are your heatpipes hot?

I've got an NH-D14 on an i7 920 running at 4.5GHz, 215 BCLK, 1.375 Vcore, 1.35 Vuncore, 1.7 Vdimm. At idle it keeps the CPU below 45degC. However during Prime95 stress testing (small FFT) I'm seeing the CPU temp rise up to ~79degC. This doesn't seem too far off from other results in this forum at ~1.38V. However, what confuses the heck out of me, is that even though the CPU is baking, the heatsink fins and heatpipes are all still very cool to the touch.

I'm wondering if I did a lousy job applying the thermal grease (tried to spread it in a thin, even layer.. maybe I used too much) but before I go ripping the system apart I wanted to ask if it's normal for the heatsink and heatpipes to stay so cool.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.. I don't seem to have permission to start a new thread, and this seemed like the next most appropriate place to post my question.

Your temps don't seem bad at all, maybe too hot in idle, but no idea if you're using any power saving tech.

Thanks for the reply zalbard. I disabled all power saving, hyperthreading, etc. for the tests above. Will incrementally turn them all back on once Prime95 has finished overnight stress testing. So far it seems solid as a rock, but I'm contemplating dropping down to 210 BCLK and slighly lower Vcore for 24/7 just to be on the "safe" side for temps (summer's coming..). Still, I wish I had better heat transfer between my FPU and the heatsink. Touching the Noctua, its hard to believe it's so hot inside there.

Turn up the vcore and you will see a different story.

If that is with HT off, then those are very warm temperatures. What TIM did you use? Might try a remount if they don't improve. Also make sure that the bolts coming through the backing plate are positioned correctly.
