I've got this xp1600 running on the 13.5 multiplier now, I dig it
By the way, what are 1600 chips overclocking to these days?? I just realised I'm doing 1900Mhz, a 500Mhz Overclock at stock voltage![]()
Interesting

hey Opp... Will this board work with a Saphire 9700 pro card.. I sure hope so. I have read some say it wont.. Wonder if it was just an old bios issue??? Thanks
BTW: Did you ship that package yet?

I don't see why the Saphire would't work on this mobo, my ATI 9700 works fine

...it is quite normal that u can set the XP1600+ up to 12.5x multi with closed L1 bridges! That is nothing special.
BUT: It is new (on the KD7 i suppose) that u can use the multis above 13x without changing the L10 bridge!
That's fantastic!
...XP1600+ (especially AGOIA/AROIA batches) are as good Overclockers as XP2100+ from the same batch. There is really no difference between them. Its the same quality now.
I've tested ~ 55 XP1600+ from various steppings in the last months -> AGOIA -Y and AROIA -Y clock well up to 1830MHz @ 1.75V on straight watercooling (ambient water).
-9 steppings about 1750MHz @1.75V
So with your Prom they should do ~ 2 GHz without trouble!![]()

Goldlocke,
Thanks, yea I never new they did multipliers above their default. I never had a smaller XP chip then the 1800 and I don't even remember that one
This is a week 12 Y, it's doing 2024 right now at 1.90, going to check for some stability and do some More
Lets see, a 2100 chip from what I remember did about 2100 Mhz so we'll see how this puppy does. I guess 2100 isn't very far at this point

OPP,
I believe that AMD does not select the palomino chips anymore. They come from the same manufacturing street and then get labeled as market demand requires. So, later XP1600+ should really be same chips as XP2100+ internally.
In the past i always bought 1600's with the steppings of their "bigger brothers"
I'm sure you'll take the little puppie to 2100MHz!![]()

AXP 1600+ AGOIA 0213 Y is the chip that I had runnin 2100MHz on air...just unlocked it last night( i hope ) and I'm gonna throw it in my water rig to see what it can run. Interesting about the mults w/ the KD7...I'm wondering if it woulda been fully unlocked w/o connecting the L1's? Or perhaps unlocked above 13 mult? If the KD7 wasn't such a POS I mighta tried one by now, hehe![]()

No, unstable on air
I have a thread I need to revive in the overclocking forum regarding the chip. I finally pulled it for unlocking and put my AROIA back in and hooked up my water. Just unlocked the AGOIA last night I hope so I will be putting it back in tonight and seeing if I can stabilize above 2GHz. If so, I will be 1 happy camper
I had that AGOIA running something ridiculous like 1.9GHz stable @ 1.85v on air...it should hopefully blow my AROIA away which runs 1950MHz stable @ 2.2vcore on water
P.S. Its not the only chip floating around that is so good...forget the guy's name but there was another guy in here floating around w/ a AGOIA runnin over 2GHz w/ a SLK-800/Delta setup...some of these chips are just diamonds...especially for $55......he was posting 3DMark scores @ over 2050MHz if I remember correctly..on air!

I may have a supplier for the board, he's contacting me tomorrow. If I can get one or two I'll work out what it'd cost in US to send it over to you etc and send u a PM.
I agree, the board itself is as good as all Abit's previous offerings other than the heat issues... and they don't SEEM to affect things much with the board other than causing a damp brown feeling in your pants when you first see the system temps... I just can't help going into the basement every hour or so to check that my tower isn't on fire tho... I don't feel secure with the board to leave it running without me nearby to keep an eye on it. Something I haven't felt since my last Asus board back before I got my first KR7A-Raid...
I have found a downside to the Iwill tho... only 1x Raid channel (I mean, duh! What can you do seriously with one RAID channel?!) and 1x Serial ATA... hoping this is reflected in the price, as in it should be way lower than the AT7-Max2 as it only has half the RAID features... looks like it's aiming to capture the budget conscious overclocker so it may not actually perform that well... we'll see.
Is this Iwill mobo you are referring to the one that is supposed to be based on the KT400A ?

Fedex dropped off my RMAed KD7R..looks the same Revision 1.1 just like the last one. Booted it up at 15x140 and SB is getting warm to touch..added a HS (pic below). Also going to add a fan blowing on caps. Hope this one does not die as I used a silver epoxy to glue the HS to SB.

I got mine yesterday did a few benches on it, the motherboard reads the mobo temp as well over 38c sometimes 40-41c. Cpu temps seem about right 30-33c at stock cpu speeds. The mobo temps worry me though since I had the ac blowing at the mobo directly.
Has anyone tried the new CORSAIR PCI 3500 yet?
Not that I can find it in Canada anyway... Its rated 433 MHz..

is there any way an admin could merge this topic and Opp's "got me a kD7-raid" topic together, or could the original posters (Dude & Opp) decide between them to get one of em locked as this conversation is gettin spread across more n more threads at the mo... and yes I know I cross-posted, figure'd that way it'd defintiely get read...![]()
Well, I've spent the evening burning in to try and get back upto my usual speed that I know I can get from this CPU and memory... no joy. No matter what happens as soon as I either go past 207FSB (no matter what cas settings are used), or past 1956Mhz (no matter what FSB / Multi combination) I get the same HDD corruption... \Windows\System32\Config\System
Taken me 45 mins to make up a Universal Boot Disc CD with full NTFS r/w access thru DOS, and full Ghost etc, so I have now backed up the entire config directory to a separate drive. Every time the HDD gets corrupted I just have to copy *.* from the backup drive to system32\config and my hard-drive is instantly uncorrupted.
Have given links to the online ISO etc to Icee for the 3DTeam...

I must say man this board runs super hot. After trying to do some ocing and upping the voltages the board was reading system temps as over 50c. This is with the ac unit blowing directly at it I can only imagin how hot it gets inside a closed case.
Has anyone else but me thrown a digidoc or compunurse probe on these KD7s to see if the reported system temps are accurate?Originally posted by dynetk

I've yet to get a system temp from a KD7 that is less than 15-20 higher than what you get when you use an actual probe. If you check the manual, it is easy to identify the sensor that the mobo is using to read the sys temp. Place a probe there nets temps 15-20c lower.
I do not believe these boards run as hot as everyone is saying. Although the mosfets do get damn hot, the sys temps are just a bad reading.

Well, my KD7-R arrived today as well. Didn't have time to install tonight since I was upgrading my daughter's rig but I will tomorrow and will report any anomalies.
