Seriously though, the last thing we all need is cherry picked cards for reviewers. I doubt Nvidia is going to do this, would be PR suicide. I just can't believe that the NDA lifts in a few hours and we are still not sure of the final specs.

I'm fairly certain that it will follow the previous PDT-based release dates, so Australia probably won't see it until their 27th.

i dont think power consumption matters... nobody really cares...
what people care about is noise, heat and if they have to upgrade their psu...
if the card runs relatively quiet and not too hot and they dont need top u[pgrade their psu, i dont think anybody will care...

its hard to tell if those 50W extra fermi pulls vs rv870 is going to push most people to upgrade their psu... if anybody reallty cares, check the steam hw survey and check what psus are common and what cpus and gpus are common to get an idea of how much power headroom most highend systems have... i think the 50W extra wont be a problem psu wise...

about the different 480 specs, i think the 625mhz 480s are the 250W tdp cards and the 700mhz are probably oced editions with close to 300W... there is no mention of a 480 ultra with 512cores so far, or did i miss it? i cant find any mention of 512cores...

They said "double the performance of nVidia's existing cards", not double the performance of all current cards from both companies.

you might argue that its gpu vs gpu, well then there should be a dual fermi card as well offering double the perf of a 295... but we all know thats not going to happen for what, 6 months? last i heard was late 2010 early 2011?
so then claiming double perf as their previous card is marketing bs...
i cant find the quote of somebody posting "so what, you claim fermi will be a 295 for the same price and same power, just with dx11, that cant be true after such a long time of waiting..." well, that IS pretty much what fermi is, isnt it?

im not saying its bad... like i said, except for 2560x1600 people there is no need for more powerful cards.

Well let's see Crysis 2560x goes from 19 fps (not playable) to 37.5 (playable) then Metro 2033 from 18 fps to 31 fps....

One thing is pretty clear new titles with more effects and DX11 will only have higher demand on GPU if I hadn't gotten GTX 280 SLI for my 30" Nov 08 I'd have had to upgrade already to keep playable framerates. By going SLI with GTX 480 I should have a longer time in between upgrades and not only will it be more enjoyable but either save me money or be close to break even. Remember there is a used market you can sell them when you upgrade.

It really depends on the game and also on min. fps. Crysis actually is one of the games, that is playable with 30fps and looks smooth, but it either has to be 30fps everywhere or with the occasional dips to 25fps.

crysis being playable with 30 av fps... yes... but come on... if you could chose between 1920x1080 50fps and 2560x1600 30fps, dont tell me you would go for the higher res with 30 fps... :P

like i said before, imo going for a 30"screen is stupid if you wanna play games, cause its way expensive and you will depend on multi gpu for the next years and its just not as nice as single gpu, even with all the advancements...
