Intel will soon launch its 32nm high-end dual-core Core i5-680 with price of US$284 and will replace the existing Core i5-670; and 45nm low-voltage Core i7-870s with a price of US$560 and a power consumption of 82W, the sources said.

AMD will launch several six-core Phenom II processors in the second quarter including X6 1035T (2.6GHz/95W), X6 1055T (2.8GHz/95W) and X6 1075T (3.0GHz/125W), according to the sources. In the third quarter, AMD will add a few more six-core processors including X6 1095T.

For the quad-core X4 900 series, AMD will launch X4 940T and the 95W version of X4 955 processors in the second quarter, the sources added.

For the company's Athlon II family, AMD will add X4 640 and X4 645 to its X4 600 series with 95W power consumption in the second and the fourth quarter respectively, the sources said.

The company will add to the Athlon II X4 600e family the X4 610e in the second quarter and the X4 615e in the third quarter. The X4 600 series features a TDP of only 45W, the sources said. For the triple-core X3 400 and 400e series, AMD will add X3 445 and X3 415e processors in the second quarter, and X3 450 and X3 420e in the fourth quarter.

For the dual-core Athlon II X2 200 series, AMD will launch a new 65W X2 260 processor and will launch two new low voltage CPU families - the dual-core X2 200u series that has a TDP of only 25W and the single-core Athlon II 100u series, the sources said.

In the second quarter, AMD will launch Sempron 145 to replace the existing Sempron 140, the sources added.

Intel and AMD have said that they do not comment on unannounced products.

It is believed AMD BullDozer is going to be AM3 compatible....just imagine if you have an AM3 board now

It's a good thing AMD learned from their Socket 939 to Socket AM2 debacle. Quite a few users were put off by the short lifespan of 939. Not many people around here care about a 2 to 3 year socket lifespan anyhow, we usually upgrade within 6 months to a year!

I'm looking forward to a top end hex core for my AM3 board. Should give me two more years with my current board; unless someone brings out a dual socket AM3 board, then I'd have to upgrade to duals.

BTW...does anyone know where to get a good die shot image of a X6 for a desktop background?

As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

How about a White Edition CPU. Don't get why it always has to be black....

Cause they are Phenoms? (AKA Athlon FX)..

I still think all Phenoms should be unlocked and the "black edition" label should be reserved for some special breed Athlons.

on topic - i am excited for these new cpus, mainly all of the enhancements over Deneb. but my next upgrades wont come until bulldozer/llano. i have a feeling that these will be much closer to the performance of the core i series.

There was the pin trick too, that's what I used on my 2400+. Worked like a charm.

Great, if the 1090T's can do 4GHz on air, 24/7 stable I'm getting one of those. Otherwise I stick to my 4GHz PII 965 C3.

More info about the Turbo boost in Thuban cores:
    http://www.semiaccurate.com/forums/s...6&postcount=42

    "From: Borislav Petkov <borislav.petkov@amd.com>

Starting with F10h, revE, AMD processors add support for a dynamic
core boosting feature called Core Performance Boost. When a specific
condition is present, a subset of the cores on a system are boosted
beyond their P0 operating frequency to speed up the performance of
    single-threaded applications.

In the normal case, the system comes out of reset with core boosting
enabled. This patch adds a sysfs knob with which core boosting can be
switched on or off for benchmarking purposes.

While at it, cleanup the driver init codepath and update copyrights.

    Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <borislav.petkov@amd.com>"
    from http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/3/22/336
Don't know if it is legit or not, though.

Yep... I'll back on AMD if it overclocks to 4 Ghz... Now the only thing that Intel could do to defeat AMD would be to launch quad-cores with HT on 32 nm for about the same price....

cool, it looks like it might not disable some cores, just speed up some. i sure cant wait to see the benchies.

That info is about the linux patches AMD prepared for benchmarking purposes (being able to control in real time whether or not Turbo Core is On or Off).

what is this new idea that processors need hyperthreading to be any good and why does everyone keep saying that amd needs hyperthreading? Its called bulldozer people and it should be here next year, you shouldn't be able to beat bulldozers multitasking abilities! hyperthreading is really hit and miss as far as performance improvements are concerned and as processors become more efficient and branch hits diminish smt will have diminishing returns.
