FF code - try and reseat the BIOS chip. You can also try and put light pressure on it with your finger while booting it may help.

Hi Killer . I haven't read everything that's going on with you but , could you test your memory 1 stick at a time with memtest and report back . If you have done this already and posted it my apologies .

Forgiveme if I didn't follow the whole story eithr but are you just looking for max OC for sake of saying it got there r for a actual daily user profile set up? What is your daily user needs specs so far?

The bios chip is soldered to the board it isn't changeable. Have no idea why evga would do something like that. Unless the main reason is you mess a bios flash up you have to send it back to them?

Did it earlier and posted about it. All sticks passed with no issues on any of them.

All this is happening on stock settings as i have been saying. I'm not even overclocking now because of the problems.

Just tried two corsairs, 850 and a 1,000. so i don't think that is the issue.

Ok Killer . I'm leaning back to your memory . Take a pic of your complete bios memory timings , should take a couple pic to get everything . Post a link to your memory from NewEgg or where ever and also let me know the voltage your running the memory at . You could do this if you can , do you have any other memory or borrow for a day from a friend you could run in your rig and see what she does at stock settings . If that passes I would suggest you drop another cpu in there and do the same . Borrow one for a day if you don't have another . Its a process of elimination right now for how your crashing at stock settings . All this I suggest is on the idea that your os is stable ! If its not do a clean install of your os .

    -mem clock = x.m.p profile 2 @ 2,000mhz
    -kingston hyperX model = KHX16000D3ULTT1K3/6GX
    -bios version = 1802
The memory checks out fine as i have ran like stated on the other page for 2 hours fine. All the settings are the predefined ones from the memory profile 2. I'm looking for some memory now though as we speak. I'm also thinking about just doing a rma on this board to be safe.

Ok i opend the case took out the MB and find that little plate under cpu socket is bend in long way.i was thinking that is why the cpu and HSF cannot make a good contact with each other.because stock HSF push the cpu in stress the MB down.is any body notice the bend area.i think is it with stock HSF and not with aftermark cooling.is there any way to make that little plate strate.i saw it has four bolts in the socket where the cpu sits??????????????????
another think i notice the HSF stay cold even when i stress the cpu.

That plate should definitely not be bent or warped. I'm hesitant to suggest a way to straighten it, sounds like your best bet is an RMA. Did you notice the bend when you purchased the board? I can't see how installing the stock cooler could bend it in any way.

hi,board came fine no bending.i dont want to go to that way to loose warrantty to straight it.i took the HSF off and wiped off the stock thermal past because half of cpu was not contacted to the cooler resulted past was dried.i reaplied AS5.now core temp gone 7c high on all cores.WTF ASUS. why cant they put some strong material.i so much frustrated.this is all stock.not to buy asus stuff again.how is your backplate looking slight bend or not at all.sorry for my bad english.thanks crytik

My back plate is perfectly flat, I mounted a water block back plate against it just a week or so ago, and it's as flat as it was when I bought it. I previously had a TRUE mounted. Perhaps you can post up a picture of what your problem is so we can understand better what is happening.

    @ xpower

Either straighten the backplate yourself or RMA the board...
A pic would be helpful also...

    Hi all,

Overclocked 920d0 to 4.1, LLC on, 1.3125 for both vcore and vtt - 1.35 vcore load. Running prime 95 as I type this, 6 hours in and I decided to put my finger on the mosfet heatsink and OUCH! can hold finger on for 5 seconds then it starts to burn it.

Just wanted to know if this is normal when stressing at high clocks with this board? CPU ad GPU under water in same loop. Case is tj07 with two 92mm rear fans@1600rpm and murdermod topgrill. Max cpu temps 72 71 71 68, thats with a 4870x2 in same loop.

    North bridge is 55-57.

Can't seem to find any program to monitor mosfets temps also.

Hope someone can clear this up for me,

    Many thanks

    RoEy

@ Roey - my mosfet sinks also get very hot - around 60*C under Linx load. I also use a TJ-07, 2 x 92mm rear intakes (only one installed atm) and I use the 2 x 120mm top fans as exhaust fans - this helps keep the mosfet sink cooler, so in your case having no top fans will make things hotter obviously.

Since asus removed the onboard 'Power' temp monitor that the original rampage extreme X48 had (perhaps they thought people would freak out when they saw 50 - 60*C) I use one of the asus supplied temp probes and stuck it into the heatsink (wedged it securely between the fins) and connected it to the mobo - not ideal but it works.

Removing the PWR sensor form R2E was a definite mistake from Asus in such a high priced mb...

I think mine felt hotter than 60. My north bridge was around 57 and yes it was hot but didnt burn me so I'm guessing the Mosfets are 65-70 or even hotter. Because I have the topgrill I can slide my finger behind the back of the motherboard where the mosfets are and the board was just as hot in that location. What sort of temps can they safely run at or should I lower my overclock?

Should I try to run with LLC off so it makes them cooler? I may drop from 4.1 to 4 also.

    Thanks again,

    RoEy

No idea what they can run at safely, but even at 4GHz mine weren't much cooler than at 4.2GHz. When I did my 20 pass Linx run at 4.5GHz, I sat a 92mm fan over the sinks and they were hot but I could leave my finger on them.

Pain threshold in humans is ~43 - 45*C so burning to the touch is really not that hot in electronic component terms. 60*C is like instant pain.

    Hi cryptik,

So you think it will be fine then? Plus it wont get that hot under normal and gaming use.

I'm touching it on the side of the heatsink too, not the fins, so I guess that bits always going to be hotter.

Well, somewhat disturbingly, mine at idle is around 45*C, around 50*C with less airflow (my old case for example). The PWM seems to run hot on these boards. Personally I think it should be ok, but for heavy use at high loads (eg long Linx or other stability tests @ 4.3 GHz+) I feel more comfortable with a fan directly cooling them.

Maybe Asus increased the switching frequency of the PWM on these boards? My Rampage Extreme X48 PWM doesn't run anywhere near as hot - with a Q9650 @ 4.3GHz, it's lucky to hit 54*C and that is with completely passively cooled mosfet sinks in an open setup.

Think I may drop back to 4ghz. Not much cooler but a little and every little helps.

Just hope I haven't damaged anything, ran linx for 20 runs yesterday and 8 hours of prime.

    Thanks for help

^Should be fine Roey, I wouldn't worry about it.

Did a little 3D benching. Nothing special but PB's for me with a single GTX295.
