Image size in topics..

Which is the full sized image and not a thumbnail/smaller image.

If I understand this stuff correctly... using those commands Ash, you need a thumbnail and the full sized image on a site, correct?

By my understanding of ggdh's post, all you do is add in /s800/ (or another number of smaller size than the actual images size) and it will show as the smaller image.

Not all sites will detect /s###, /thumb, etc. as a command to automatically resize an image. Most blog and few image hosting sites can do that.

So then the command that was posted, won't work web-wide.
Which then in turn, pretty much makes it a useless command.

trust me, there are ALOT of hacks that I'd like to get in place... but there is NOTHING I can do with it, and even less without the vB updates

OK. I checked few different hosting servers and it is possible to use "s800" only when in files address you can find actual name o a file (example.jpg) at the very end of a address. When the site is reporting address as "www.hostingserver.com/3f84lfb92s0bjfhs" don't know what to do.

So my method is very limited. I'm using picasa though and it works just fine. I'm sick and tired of photobucket or flickr when you see "bandwidth exceeded" thumbnail or "photo was removed" instead of pic of yours pretty often.

Yes. Picasa is probably the only image hosting server that does it since all blogspots are using it. Flickr? I am not sure about that one.

Oh please not, I love XS for being one of the few sites that doesn't resize pictures....

I hate having to click on thousands of thumbnails to get the info I want.

We are not talking about thumbnails (I hate them with anger...), but to find a reasonable limit for most of people around here. I don't know, I think something like 640-720p would be ok for most people, its annoying when somebody posts an image like 1500p while you are using a 720p screen and you have to be scrolling in all directions the hole page, which is a PITA if you use the max posts per page stuff.

We're talking more along the line when somebody posts a 3+MP picture. Most monitors don't display 2048x1536 last I checked.

Exactly. Although there are many forums that resize the images automatically. But hey, resizing is not a problem at all, imageshack does it on its own and its program is really easy to use, 30 sec to resize and host an image + the topic gets a lot easier to follow.
