    I am totally annoyed when people start a build log and there are no pics on the first post/day, I was dying to start this for weeks but held off until things got ordered and started arriving, everything has been ordered except 2 c300s, crucial only lets you get 3 at a time and I've ordered 6 so far 2 more in a couple days.

    *whew* long!

    Finally, first pic to start us off, pics are with nexus one so my apologies for clarity, much better camera in a few days:
    I was just looking for a pair of these in a raid 0 setup and your doing all of these wow... What are you trying to do make a time machine.. subscribed

    Unreal!! You just have to love a "cost no object" build!

    Just a quick note...it sounds like you are thinking your boot array will only be 256MB. Not so! RAID 0 stripe will be the sum total of all your drives. You will have a 2TB SSD drive! The beautiful thing about that is there is no need to split data storage to a hard disk. Put OS, apps AND ALL data on the SSD drive, then just use the hard disk as a backup drive for your data. That way you will have the benefits of the SSD for everything!

    Awesome setup dude! Can't wait to see how everything turns out.

    A small suggestion though: You better start individually testing those SSD's. There's always a good chance one might be DOA. If you test them now, at least they will be ready by the time your finishing up.

    YES!!! Test those SSDs... I ordered 4 for my build and didn't get around to getting them running for a few months and when I finally did, one of them kept dieing but it was out of the return date so I was SOL... Get them individually hooked up to another rig and run HD tune on it for a few hours to see

    Should be interesting, although I'm a bit concerned if all those SSDs will fit into that Ascension ( , of course )

    You've probably already read this but maybe it will help you decide on the raid controller?
    Also have you considered the 9750-8i? It's a bit more expensive but since you've already dropped that much money on SSDs it only makes sense to have the best controller you can have for them. I'm only worried you'll be performance limited by your controller.

    Thanks for the suggestion, I'd seen the 9750, I bought both the lsi 9260-8i and 9211-8i, judging by this post from Tilt I should be fine:

    the 9750 would not be a good fit for his machine. that card is optimized for multipath enivironments, aka VMware setups. not good for desktops.

    @MBRESLIN the advice to run hdtune for several hours that was made up there ^^^ is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. do not do that. ssd do not have a shelf life that they have to be used within. benching a drive for hours straight to see if it is functional is one of the most retarded things i have ever even heard.

    I planned to just scan for errors I don't really know how long that would take with an ssd as I've never had them or even used hdtune, I would just like to know that my drives are fine individually before building/rebuilding arrays.

    @elpy: I have a money tree.

    @everyone else: sorry I haven't really updated. I don't have a lot of time and what little time I have I've spent benching and trying to get the most out of my c300's. The build is like 90% done.. (I'm posting from it now)

    3 loops..
    pa120.4-->i7 920
    pa120.3-->5970
    pa120.3-->5870+mb nb/sb
    3 loops is a logistical cluster....

    My psu fan has an intermittant rattle that makes me want to throw it out the window. I guess it has to be replaced. Well done enermax. :/

    I have a 980x on order and after that cable sleeving and this thing is done. I will edit this post in a bit and post some pics.

    Not that kind of money tree! (I didn't even think of that when I made that comment)

    Here is something recent, I will go into detail soon, still waiting on a 980x and a new non cold bugged 5970, also I planned to paint the frame of the noctuas and just said screw it and got 20 s-flex's so sometime in the next 10 days or so it should be nearly complete minus a bunch of sleeving.
