Talking Scythe shows two new CPU coolers: Susano and Yasya

    Source: http://xtreview.com/
Scythe company presented the advanced processor cooler called: Scythe susano.

From the base, there are six or twelve heat pipes - according to the existing photographs it is complicated to reliably determine their quantity. They are four fans standard size 120 mm.

Here is the copper version of Yasya.

Scythe earlier released the copper versions of its most successful processor cooler, but such products did not become mass due to the high prime cost.
While Yasya's design doesn't look too smart IMO (look at these huge cuts, lots of surface area lost without making the cooler dimensions any smaller), Susano looks... well, let's be honest, it's fecking ENORMOUS!

So, its a whole mobo cooler. How big is that base plate on the HS? 12 pipes going to the base. Even if they are stacked it still seems like a lot of pipes to squeeze into the base.

Lol, loving the Susano! I wonder how it does compared to the Mugen 2.

I love Scythe as a company but what I'd like to see from them right now is releasing something completely derivative of the most successful designs on the market (TRUE), something that would let them regain their spot as one of the top contenders because I honestly don't view them as such right now. Like most of their latest efforts these two seriously make me go: "WTF were they thinking again?"

The middle area is unusable for cooling anyway but...after experiences with Ninja Plus which was worse than AMD stock cooler, I'll rather stay away from anything with Scythe stick on it...

I don't foresee that Susano being worth a crock of pickles. Look at the length of those heat pipes. Hell, wasn't the Infinity one of their better models? I still run an Andy Samurai Master on a 5200+ Windsor at stock.

I understand there's a need for better cooling... but I don't think that's it. Aside from water, a setup like the TRUE or the D14 will likely outperform that... fan sheet.

Scythe is famous for passive cooling, low noise cooling and price/performance. They are pretty unique in that respect.

The Susano might appeal to Open Air / Bench station CPU benchers

that would be pretty perfect for a flat laying mobo with an open case and no fans. any other use is just for wtf expressions from friends.

Susano with that much surface and 4 fans, should have great cooling properties. It would be interesting to see some tests.

This looks like a smart way for using those "dead&unused" space over the RAM, but I don't know if they can keep the weight low. Maybe they should use some kins of support to prevent the MB to break down?.

So these are still prototype versions, right? I have a feeling the final versions will be more refined, at least I hope so. Even though I like Scythe products, these designs don't seem too stellar to me at their current state.

Although the hardcore air cooler extremists prefer other designs, there's still a handful of us who love the Infinity/Mugen 2 and the high performance it offers in certain low airflow scenarios.

By the way, does anyone know what the names mean? It seems most Scythe products seem to draw their names straight from Japanese history, places, people or the like (such as the Musashi VGA-cooler)

Bleh, I was hoping for a smaller cooler, not those enourmous monstrophicals things like Kabuto, Susano is even bigger, and also have a transexual name! LOL xD

Probably Susano will be a heck of a cooler in performance, but, is too much when you have something like TRUE or Megahalems out there, they perform like heaven and they are like, more than a half of the size of this over-pilled-mega Kabuto.

The Susano looks like a reincarnation of the Godhand prototype! It would be interesting to compare it to the Orochi. The Yasya looks nice, no reviews yet since it was announced early this year.

Scythe prototypes don't always make it to mass production but their designs are usually unique and interesting.

i think they should partner up with someone to make a custom 240mm fan, and refine it a bit so it dosnt waste so many fins that wouldnt be receiving any airflow. it could be very easy to be a king of no noise air cooling if a company cared too

NO idea how tall that is right now, but if you market it for a HTPC case it could be perfect. Hell I would love it if it was the same height as the top of my case. I could cut the top of the case to match and throw in a bit of mesh and have a passive HS that was in a case but open to the fresh air.

All that monster needs is a heatpipe attachment that could be connected to your ram.

If I'd build a comp case for my openbed setup, Susano could be my sidepanel.

    Want!

If nothing else, that will get a lot of attention as a part of a "showpiece" build so I can get some more custom my way.

Like already mentioned by some of you, Scythe so far had no luck taking the crown of having the best air cooler on the market even though they have some interesting designs. This Susano looks just like the next Orochi/Cooler Master Geminii to me. Huge, but nowhere near the performance one would expect just by the sheer brutality of its looks. Lets hope i am wrong.
