Neither. I have another suggestion!
wait there's an aquatube too? (I've got a white delrin one waiting to show up...)
Thanks .:R32! An update is indeed in the works. Kinda all over the place as of late, but planning to share stuff minus all the chaos. lol
I lied. A d-plug wasn't all that was needed to help "things along."
I hired a female Thai escort to provide a private "massage" for the lower GPU and it looks as though a solution aroused.
Thanks, callen! Flushing Hatches is going to be the name of the next horse I bet on at the tracks.
I hope to bring some juice on me next update. "Hope" being the operative word.
LMAO Classic! Blonde no legs. Gosh. I'm 12 again.
I SO want to say that at my next visit to Starbuck's and see if either the cashiers give me:
A.) the whole "we-hear-that-20-times-a-day" courtesy laugh or
B.) a blank stare
lol
Thanks, Sharon! I'm hoping not to go cheesy overboard with the whole pirate theme. Perhaps just a hair short of a bowl of nachos.
Heyas, marx. You may already know this, but JIC, there is a great photography section here on XS with really inspirational work. I shall check out your worklog and provide some honest feedback.
JIC stands for Just In Case. I have no idea why I first acronymed it. lol
Thanks Charles! "NO" to Goof-Off it is. Yes, the only fried noodles for this kid is when I go to Won Kok Chinese restaurant and order their Seafood Crispy Noodle dish. Deee-lish! (Yes. That's their real name.)
John! Just wanted to thank you again, for that off-the-hook link you sent earlier. Can hardly wait for those!
************************************************** ******
I intend to share a little of my experience at MOCA on my next update.
Until then, thanks all!

It is fantastic how well you're sticking to your theme, love it. Bring the juice I'm waiting (for your next update)!!

I started off with a gray, 12" x 12", 6mm piece of acrylic:
Made some really awesome pencil guides and notes to self. Pic may not do it justice, but those chicken scratches you see on the protective paper were actually the single most awesome thing in the world.
I just had really bad lighting:
I may use this lens tint to darken her up a bit...
Routed 1.5mm off all around the sides.
Meet Sonic the Acrylic cutting bit:
After routing the perimeter of the rectangular acrylic piece, I used Sonic to cut out the rest of the excess.
This acrylic piece will fit over the rectangular midplate hole.
Holes will then be drilled into it to allow the tubing to pass between the pedestal and the hull.
Sonic makes the edges of the acrylic look fashionable:
Created a template during the design phase showing measurements of the holes where the compression fittings will be situated.
The template was transferred to the working piece:
Followed this template for an opaque, white piece of acrylic situation, but it's looking like the gray acrylic situation will be the color I'll be using:
Held my breath to see if it fits flush:
Exhaled at seeing the results! Completely happy with how perfectly flush it fits:
Chuck doing his thing:
A side note here. It was at this moment, my iPod started playing Marilyn Manson's cover of "You Spin Me Round".
It was seriously freaky perfect. (It really was. )
I took that as a sign that I'm doing good and that I should continue with my bad self:
*
"You look like you're havin' fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come
You spin me right round, baby
right round like a record, baby
Right round round round"
Ok. The pic below shows the underside of the acrylic piece with marks showing where I'll be placing the pass through fittings.
This measurement had to be very precise since the compression threads had to line up perfectly with the pass-through threads. I needed a way to see if the actual holes that were drilled were aligned with my center marks on the masking tape.
I eyeballed it by shining a light from the other side to see if me marks were gtg:
I used a Forstner Bit to make the flat bottom holes for the pass-throughs to sit and fit snug as a bug in a rug:
Flat bottom wood test:
It makes a 25.40mm hole which is just right for the pass-throughs to fit tight and cushy. (25.40mm = 1inch, but speaking in millimeters makes me sound like I know what the hell, I'm talking about):
Drilled down to leave a thickness of 1.5mm so the threads of the compression fittings and pass-throughs could make enough catch:
Flat bottom hole for the pass throughs:
A pass through "sinking" into its new home:
The exposed top part with fittings:
Removed the masking on both sides to see how it all looks fitted into the hole. I'm quite pleased in how in turned out:
It isn't quite mounted with epoxy just yet. I'll have to remove it as I continue putting the finishing touches on the hatchway I'm creating.
That update shall be posted soon!
'Til then, thanks for hanging out for a bit!
I had to run outside at one point to grab me face protection before returning to my dry sheltered area where I was working. I dropped it enroute.
I thought it was a pretty cool shot sitting there in the fresh rain covered pavement:

WELL. DONE.
My God all you guys with your routers, fantastic work man.
EDIT: Last pic gives me an Equilibrium/Minority Report vibe.
Holy $h!zz burgers!! That's an awesomely wicked idea for the pass-through fittings. It looks like the bits are tapped
straight into the acrylic which looks damn nice. Quality quality quality work cap'n.
I found it quite difficult and time consuming to make the acrylic res in my project sit flush with the aluminum and
you've pulled it off beautifully! Not to mention you must have rounded off the corners by hand, how else could you
round-off corners with a router??
And, of course, the pics are all stunning as usual. You can have all the gold stars charles gave me, and some
(sorry charles lol)
Ahhh it feels good to get my fix![]()
Ahhh, the wait was worth it. Knew you were planning something sneakily good for us all. You just REALLY don't want that ugly bottom of those pass through fittings to show, do you? Your new creation looks perfect.
What a full chapter ... we've got an action shot of Chuck, Marilyn Manson spinning, a drop in appearance by Sonic & Forstner, The Minority Report, and those awesome pencil guide drawings ... a heck of a way to start the week!
You've already got gold stars, andjust isn't enough - so this one gets 5 of these:

amazing update. that pic of the face shield is awesome. if that was an ironman mask, i think you'd be getting paid aload of gold doubloons so that some studio could use it as an advertisement imo.

gogo i want to see a next big upgrade and a fullshot of the case plz![]()
Amazing work, that row of fittings is so sexy.
holy crap.
Will YOU adopt ME?
I saw that your bit was named sonic before I looked at the bit. Makes perfect sense haha.
Holy shiznat, that's insane man! Pure awesome craftsmanship and I'm really diggin' that last shot! You should print it, it'd make a nice picture in your workshop
Keep it up Capt!
^^ yeah, I forgot to mention, last picture is really dramatic![]()

man that's gorgeous. I had always wanted to cut fan holes into a pedestal top and then make pass thrus w/ a piece of acrylic covering the 120mm fan hole, then back light the acrylic piece some color.
what's Sonic's the bit's trade name?
BTW-those fittings i had mentioned earlier from bitspower-where one bought the acrylic tube and then the o ringed sides for SLI-ing are now for sale at performance-pcs. probably excessive for me (as I have some d-dens but mostly as i don't dye my water)
That's an Oscar caliber update Rick - awesome stuff!
Speaking of which, you should consider doing a video update sometime. I bet you could create a very cool and highly entertaining "video worklog".
Think about it at least.![]()
That is totally awesomeAbsolutely loving it!!! Good work! Inspiring. Can't wait to see how it comes together.
