I had a 960 and I was not impressed at all with it, not even close to what my 920 or any other decent D0 920 does. I have a feeling these 930's will be an overall disappointment, I am just hoping they cause a few fire sales on the 920's.

back to the main reason why i posted... im happy that i got a 930. period. "hoping" to get a good batch of a 920 was something i wasn't ready to "try" and do. im happy that i got the 930. and it seems to me, that every single one of you who are bashing the 930s have a semi decent 920 and you seem to me, to be 920 fan-boys/girls.

i didnt mean for this post to be a "my 920 D0 is better than your new 930" thread. seriously. if you have a 930, lets see what these can do, post screen shots of stability and benchmarks!

its a new product. no one to be bashed on.

Well i had the time to test a new batch real real quick before i had to go to bed
Noticed the fact that somehow the 930's need more power for the imc through vtt to boot (this is the second 930 wich i had to up the vtt).

3001A593 ---> able to post 4.6 ghz ht on <1.4V

Will do some normal testing tommorrow so "to be continued"

Sorry had no intention of doing that. On what I've seen though I get a feeling that nothings changed. Your chances of getting a good 930 will be about the same as it was with a 920. In otherwords there will be quite a variation between a decent 930 and a dog.
Had a good 920 got an indifferent to bad 930.

I have it on water now and my loaded temps max out at around 67*C on 20runs of linX. I have the latest bios 44 version on my classy. The 1.53v is only at idle, when it loads it vdroops to 1.45v actual, I use "with vdroop" in the bios so I don't get spikes, but that makes your idle voltage higher.

I looked online at frys.com, but they don't have the CPU's listed there. Newegg and zipzoomfly have them but the are a little more expensive and the 920 is still the same price...

Thats why you always call first and have them verify that they have said product, then have them hold said product that you want until you arrive.

Yeah, I will do that....so far what batches are the best and can I have them look through the boxes and look for certain batches? Oh, is the 22x multi even useable? I was thinking of just ordering one on newegg, as it will cost me $60 bucks to drive to fry's....

try this, call and ask for the components department. then make sure you speak with the PC components supervior, or department manager. this part is crucial. explain to them your situation, how you have to drive across the country or whatever, and do your best to make a friend out of them in the first couple of minutes. explain to them you are building a computer and its critical that you know the batch of the processor for testing purposes. (also telling them you have a following of people that like to take your advice from forums) once you have that person's name, make sure when you get there, you'll be able to meet them face to face. make your drive and tell them you'll only use up 5 mins of their time and have them escort you to the components "cage" from there, its a brothel line! hand pick your beauty.

i know all this because i used to work at 4 different fry's stores along the west coast. it'll be even better if you can get ahold of the customer service supervisor.

i hope you get the right processor. ive been told that the same batch i have, 3001a187 are some of the better ones found so far. but dont take my word for it. i have only used/seen my own i7 930.

good luck and let us know!

On phase yes, on water without it being chilled or air, not a snowballs chance.

Although, if you get lucky and get a nice chip you may be able to do some benching at those speeds on a high end water setup!
