gotcha. its still cool that they were areguing for you in your favor tho! not often you get a manager to "go up to bat for you" cheers for him! and thats how managers keep loyal customers. maybe this is why i havent seen much 930's on newegg and tiger.

at any rate, i returned my Asus board and went back to my ol'775 and Q6600... i feel like Payton Manning... having the win in my arms, and giving it away. all for the best right now tho. as soon as the refund clears, im ordering me a classified! woop woop! and from there, we'll see what else i can do!

yea, i called Fry's and the reason they gave me for not selling them, is thet were NOT SUPPOSED to release them til the 28th. and they wouldnt say if they got in trouble or not for accidentally selling them early.

so, i finally ordered my E760 Classified today... im so excited. now i can post screenies of my rig once i get it installed and running!

IMO, it is the best choice because the extra multi that the chips give are pretty unstable and these chips don't do anything more than what the chips you just listed do...

My xeon x3520 is in the mail and due to be at my front door from newegg on the 25th, I can't freaking wait!!! I pray it is an absolute killer chip!

I've ready through all the posts and looks like there's still no solid conclusion if the 930 overclocks better than the 920 or runs 4.0Ghz at a lower Vcore stable?

We should give a few days to 930. We have only seen a few CPU from Fry's, and better batches will probably come throng more traditional OC/HW-channels at the first days of launch.

Generally, the OC-headroom of i7 is all about batch#, not about model#. But the x22 multi of a good 930-batch# (which hopefully can show up soon) would beat the 920, big time.

Already in stocks in ROMANIA, at the same price as 920. http://www.pcgarage.ro/procesoare/in...0-280-ghz-box/ I have a question, would 920 be EOL?
Anyway you can have an opinion haw good are 930's by judging 1-2 chips..
Theoretical 930 will do higher frecuencys due the higher multiplier at lower BCLK (example 214*21=4.494Mhz). 920 would have required 225 BCLK.
And with 930 overcloking wold be easyer on MB' wich can do more than 220 BCLK. I expect some very good chips to do 4.6ghz with 1.45v.
So i think that 930 is very goof to refresh LGA 1366(on the low end().
I mean no the 980X will be launched at 999$, 920/930 are the base..

I have been told by the guy who gives me Intel ES chip that i7 930 will perform a bit better with BIOS upgrades. I dont know he meant overclocking or clock to clock.

In regards to 32nm chips I was not referring to $1000, 6 core, Gulftown chips but $500, 32nm, 4 core, Xeon chips. I would rather pay more to have a 4 core, 32nm, Xeon chip than a 45nm, $300, I7 930. I have owned 4 920s but will be waiting until March 16 to see the pricing on the 4 core 32nm Xeons.

If they can get 22 solid it should clock slightly better, wait for the better batches to appear.

HP did. As a contracting officer purchasing decisions have to be made months in advance so that contracts can be drawn up. It helps to know what is on the horizon and how much it will cost.
The 32nm Xeons will not be "cheap" but cheaper than the 980X Gulftowns.

A 32nm Quad with "affordable" price, would be my dream-CPU for desktop,

The moment the 32nm Quad gets "affordable", it will suddenly turn the whole Bloomfield-family (including the the 930) to some old outdated 45nm-crap that nobody cares about any longer.

So it is a really good idea to get a better picture of Intel's plans for near future (which would more depend on AMD, than Intel's own desires) before making a dessication.

I wouldn't get very surprised to see some "affordable" 32nm Quads soon, but Intel is holding the cards really tight for now. (maybe because these news would ruin the sale of 930 and the rest av 45nm chips?).

I guess the big question is: when will Intel make the 32nm-transition of the whole line up?.

32nm quad would still be bclk limited though. Any i7 is still a good chip, My 920 is actually pretty darn fast stock anyways for day to day.

I hope the 32nm quads are released soon so I can quit sitting on the fence and upgrade. Buying a 930/920 now just doesn't feel right.

Got one yesterday, pretty underwhelmed so far, but in fairness the same voltage range might apply comparing a couple of 920s, I just happened to have a decent 920.
