Talking ATI releases its own line of GDDR memory!

...and nvidia seems to be its first customer?

    http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3742&p=2

heheheh, just kidding, its a 40nm nvidia GT210 card from msi, so nvidia has nothing to do with it... and i guess ati just got some mem from samsung or hynix branded with their logo and sold it to their partners. both nvidia and ati tend to do this, buy large batches of gddr to get a discount and then sell them to their partners together with their gpus to help their partners out and allow them to offer lower priced cards. anyways, i dont think they intended msi or any of their other partners to use it on nvidia cards though

    Now, time for some whatifs.

What if agreement, when amd sells those memory chips to card manufacturers, there is line that denies use of those chips in competitor cards.

Now there would have been inadvequate supply of memory permitted to use on nVidia cards.

Manufacturer has chosen to risk and use those bought from ati on nVidia boards (maybe they have big oem order inside).

    What would happen?

not much, i guess a conf call, maybe a visit of reps, some serious faces and but i dont think there would be lawsuits or punishments...
i think ati is probably laughing about this, if anything, msi risks pissng off nvidia
