    AI7 + typical P4 3.4C

    Just swapped my 3.4C out of my vcore challenged Epox 4PCA3+ into my AI7 for some fun (need a break from testing BH-5 ram all the time with my 2.8C). Seems to be a typical P4 3.4C not exceptional in anyway vcore voltage wise still needs alot of vcore to perform but i'm in 30-34C room temps using less than ideal heatsink for now.

    Running Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with latest windows updates and DX8.1

    P4 3.4C 800FSB L344B046 Malay
    Abit AI7 16 Beta1 bios with MCX478-V heatsink + 80x38mm Delta 80cfm fan
    2x 2x 256MB KHX3200K2/512 BH-5
    128MB Gigacube 9600PRO

    vDimm: 3.2v hey burning my ram in still so kept it at that voltage even though it doesn't need it

    Hexus Pifast = 65.23s
    Super Pi 2M = 1min 33s
    Super Pi 8M = 8min 09s

    3dmark2001SE 330
    128MB Gigacube 9600PRO @ 486/733 = 15,270

    note: cpuz has problems reporting right ratios set in bios on AI7 when GAT is in play to enabled PAT fully, i.e. 1:1 is reported as 5:4 and vice versa

    I wonder how much more FSB i can get watercooled (30-34C room temps) or mach2 cooled ?

    not bad mate.

    is that 1.8v on air ?

    a decent water rigg will be alot of $$$

    nice results

    yeah on air with MCX478-V at 1.8v in bios is only giving 1.68-1.74v fluctuating in windows though under load

    changed out 2x 256MB KHX3200K2/512 BH-5 for 2x 512MB KHX3200/512 BH-5 sticks and played with AI7 sprindale boards' GAT settings some more. Just more stock benchmarks to get an idea of how a 3.4C performs for reference.

    CPU Multimedia = 26,253 / 37,472
    Bufferred = 5,016 / 5,024
    Unbuffered = 3100 / 3162 (double sided 512MB stick boost )
    Cache & Mem = Combined Index = 10,889MB/s Speed Factor = 11.9

    Aida32 3.93
    Read = 5,437 MB/s
    Write = 2,360 MB/s

    Pcmark2002 = 7,277 / 11,493 / 1040 (compare that to first post's 200fsb 1:1 settings what a boost that 512MB sticks and GAT settings make!)
    Hexus Pifast = 73.72s - strange pifast was slower

    I think I'll need to install WinXP PRO instead of Win2k PRO SP4 and see how things differ as well

    I took delivery of my Corsair Hydrocool 200 water cooling external unit yesterday and after 8-10hrs leak testing seems fine so decided to install HC200 on my AI7/3.4C

    Took me a while to figure out where to place HC200 unit so decided to use a chair besides the mobile utility trolley pc setup (i'll post pics later)

    I used Ceramique thermal paste since it's non-conductive. I did a test mount, and to my surprise when i tried to remove the cold block to see the cpu imprint on the cold block to see how well it contacted, i found out that the cold block was stuck to the cpu! Eventually pulled the cpu out of the cpu socket stuck to the cold block

    I find this happens more when using aluminium heatsinks such as my Igloo 4300 100% aluminium fin HSF as well. Luckily there was no damaged cpu pins .. phew!

    Reapplied some ceramique paste and reinstalled the cold block. Booted pc and I love the temps I'm seeing

    ---------------------------------------
    Results with room temp at 28.5C - 28.8C

    P4 3.4C default 1.55v vcore in bios
    Abit AI7 16beta 1 bios
    2x 512MB KHX3200/512
    80GB WD 800JB
    550W Antec TrueControl PSU
    Win2k Pro SP4

    HC200 cooled

    At boot in bios
    cpu idle = 39-41C
    system idle = 29C
    pwm idle = 34-35C

    At boot HC200 display = 28.5C - 29C

    In Windows
    cpu idle = 39-41C
    system idle = 29-30C
    pwm idle = 34-35C

    2x Prime95 v23.8
    cpu load = 45C
    system load = 31C
    pwm load = 47C

    HC200 Display under prime load = 31C - 31.5C
    ------------------
    Conclusion:
    1. On average at stock P4 3.4C speed and vcore, HC200 water cooling reduced my cpu idle and load temps by 4-6C compared to my previous air cooled setup of Swiftech MCX478-V with 80x38mm Delta 80cfm fan on high speed.

    2. HC200 displayed idle and load temps are ~10C and 14C, respectively lower than actual reported bios/board temps at stock 3.4C speeds and vcore.

    Need to do more testing though and I'll post some pics later on

    some prime and idle screenies

    @idle

    prime loaded

    2mins after stopping prime95 41min run

    Hydrocool 200 oc'd results

    * Results with room temp increased to 30C

    P4 3.4C @220fsb 1.725v vcore in bios (1.66-1.68v idle real vcore)
    Abit AI7 16beta 1 bios
    2x 512MB KHX3200/512
    80GB WD 800JB
    550W Antec TrueControl PSU
    Win2k Pro SP4

    * according to http://newstuff.orcon.net.nz/wCalc.html 3.4C@3743mhz is outputting 114.83W of heat

    HC200 cooled

    At boot HC200 display = 30.5C

    In Windows
    cpu idle = 41-45C fluctuating
    system idle = 30C
    pwm idle = 36-37C

    2x Prime95 v23.8
    cpu load = 49C
    system load = 32C
    pwm load = 56C

    HC Display @ load = 33C

    C/W idle = (45-30)/114.83W = 0.1301
    C/W load = (49-30)/114.83W = 0.1586
