So my goal was to get some Di and ln2 today, wrap up a review on some gtx2's then get a little benching in. Unfortunately I got owned by the DI place and then apparently I owned myself with a little to much caution to the wind......

Somehow i managed to get some benches off although I have no freaking clue how the cpu was operating like this, I have a feeling this was the cause of my IMC / 32m stable issues. Looks like i got some conformal on chip somewhere along the line

None the less and this issue was still unknown to me until I tore down so I forced the chip to work anyway.

And decided while I was at it I might as well tell my 4890 that it wasn't allowed to coldbug.

    Great benching
But how do you impose your will upon a HD4890?

i have a few Liters of LN2, so i can make it cold once and test fast or so :P

    //edit

and a phase thingything, i could go with that aswell, although changing the mounting

Hmm, tried out the 5870 fast.
No luck though, at -110 ( gpu-z reading ) the screen starts to go balastic, starting off with alot of dots first. apprently this is the mem controller in the gpu chip?
Anyhow, doesnt matter if i use 1.4 or 1.5V , the limit is 1250core.

with the upcomming lightnings and such, it's not bad, but not good enough for what my goal / plan was with it. so another one bites the dust, and ill just wait it out untill the non-refs become available.

    Don't be so sure,

Once retail is availible we shall see

Nothing is certain, and a lot of people are hitting 1300+ core with reference designs

Don't think the difference will be that big for most of the benchers on stock coolers...

What a diff a conformal free cpu makes

Water testing done, back to cold testing I guess.

Obviously once review is done I will knock out a proper tweaked 32m run with a 32m tuned os versus the win 7 above

Alright guys, i have parts coming in, so i hope to get the team some points real soon. I got my mobo and GPU in, waiting on PSU and looking for a 920. You can check out the parts in my build log...i am hoping this board will be a good bencher, but i won't know till i try it out, we'll see if it can go past that 225blck with cascade.
