Incredible work with the file, anyone who's used it before knows it is no easy task and your results are pretty astounding.

Nice blocks and really good attention to detail with the file. How long did it take you to file it to perfection like that???

thanks for the update BTW... still checking everyday!

    Thanks Weev...Let's see...
...The midplate needs 1 more drill hole for wires to pass through to the pedestal and two more cuts for the tubing.

So I reckon that counts as 1 step.

Haven't figured out yet how many steps altogether before powdercoating, but I'd be one step closer.

Aye, main man Callen...it certainly is about time.
As far as the creative part goes, I'm looking to you to further corner that market as
you've got a strong handle on that as it is.
    Let's chat.

I'll be watching closely at your build log to see which direction you'll be taking in cutting your midplate (hopefully not in reverse oopscouldn'tresistmybad.).

If anything I hope I offered some kind of assistance in helping you decide which tool that's best suited for you - router or not.

Nothing but trouble getting these damn blocks

Good update! very informative, and I like your router; it's impressive and looks as good as the work it does.
Thanks wez Much luck to you in getting your last mcw60. That EK Supreme Tweaked red block still looks amazing to me.

Aye, Xion, I named those two pieces of wood Cheech and Chong.

Hopping in the Delorean with a working Flux Capacitor would reveal that they made an earlier appearance on page 5.
They guided the RotoZip to make the holes on the midplate back in October:

Currently using a routing table to shave off a couple of mm on pieces of acrylic.

We'll see how that turns out.

Thanks, Liderc. Yes filing can be tedious and repetetive but the results were worth it. Thankfully, the raw cut came out straight to begin with, making the filing situation a little easier.

Cheers Vinas...if memory serves, it took roughly about thirty minutes altogether. Thanks for your continued support!

The verstile rotozip may make filing a little easier for the remaining cuts on the midplate:

I was hesitant in posting pics or an update showing progress on the remaining cuts left to be made on me midplate, because frankly they were rather boring.

But it's Valentine's Day morning, pandora.com is nailing it by playing 3 songs in a row that I actually like, and the smell of bacon is in the air.
So what the hey, I say.

Furthermore, I had a little visitor inspecting my work and the shots I took of her came out pretty decent.

This is the hole for the wires of the components from the pedestal to pass through. It's name is Mini-Me.

Although Mini-Me's edges came out smooth, I'll still be outfitting it with a C-CHannel (or is it a U-Channel?) edge molding for extra protection of the wires.

Hole had to be big enough for a 4-pin molex to fit through:

It will be eventually concealed by the center aluminum bar that supports the mobo tray:

My pet bearded dragon is scratching and jumping inside her tank. So I decided to give her an up close and personal look at the latest adventures of midplate mayhem.

If you were to ask me, she looks like she's smiling. I'll be bold enough to say that it's a smile of approval.

    Meet Lilly, everybody!!

    Inspecting. Smiling. Approving.

    In. That. Order.

    More to come!

I'm pleased with the results of the cuts so far. And Lilly is indeed a great looking beardie. Well-behaved, hardy and unassuming.

It's truly a beautiful, well-made piece of craftmanship.

    Avast, sir Captain.

It appears there is a nasty wedging-effect with your video cards... They look like they are being spread apart and causing stress on themselves and PCI-e slots because of that BP connector.
I am referring to the picture of the pipe.

Nice idea with the cable routing, btw. Clean, efficient, and you can cut holes as needed if cables need to chill in the middle of the case for no discernible reason!

I see what you mean Wezly about the cards.
I am not sure if it is just the angle of the photo or if the BP fitting are holding the cards apart more that they should.

But arr, is having a "nasty wedging-effect with your video cards", anything like having a wedgie while riding your bike down the freeway ( in between all the cars) during peak hour?

As for my project, that part is really bugen me.
I can say that, I have gotten quite a few of my parts together already.
In fact, I thought I had nealy gotten all my ducks lined up, when those damm birds got wise and moved the goal post on me.
So now I find myself waiting on the release date for the new mobo I want.
Also before I can really start putting my rig together I first need to build a desk in the front room for the PCs, plus to add to everything we have just started
to getting quotes in on re-doing the kitchen and the floors throughout the house,(not the bedrooms but)
So looks like it might be best to hold off a bit longer, Grrrrr

Just as well I have most of my parts but, hay.

I will give you the heads up when it all happens mate.
