    Smile Mutant_Tractor's WC'd PC-343

So i thought i should post up my own thread instead of hijacking everyone elses,
So my WCing setup is as below:

    Iwaki RD-30
    Swiftech Apogee XT
    PA 120.3
    PA 120.2
    EK Multioption 400 Res
    EK 8800 Ultra Block
    Koolance Extreme Flow QDC's
    TFC Compressions
    Koolance 90 Degree Compressions
    Koolance 45 Degree Compressions
    Tygon R-3606

    Testbed:

So just gotta work out how to mount it all
And no cavitation from the pump with a standard 1/2ID tube and compression on the inlet.

Sorry for the poor photos, i was using my phone, in the last picture you can see a stream of bubbles coming from my EK block, i have a feeling its sucking air in as i cant see the bubbles anywhere before it in the loop.

Well its a big loop it will be when finished a 3GPU, CPU and EK EVGA XF X58 Block (When the UK distributor remembers to order it in >.>)
So i thought, big case, big loop = big res
The res also acts for the minute as the buffer to stop my pump sucking in air :P

@ Mutant_Tractor - not sure if you were just wanting to show pics of your initial test setup, or if you were planning to show more pics as you go along? Looks like an interesting build.

Let me know if you are planning to update the thread as you progress, and I'll move this to the Work Log section.

Hi shazza, im planning to keep updating as i build it into my case, my 90degree and 45degree compressions just arrived so i can finally get mounting this stuff
Hopefully it will look like i imagine in my head when it is done

OKay - then I'll move it to the Work Log section. It will get more views there, as likely to get lost in the shuffle here - and since it's a work log, that's where it should be

Can't wait to see what you do with your case.

I don't think the EK block can be "sucking air in" unless you see water leaking out - or you have some crazy reverse pressure where the inside of your loop is closed and have a pressure lower than whatever air pressure is at your altitude...

Definatly not altitude... on closer inspection it looks as if the pump may be subject to cavitation jus the flow rate is too fast and bubbles are too small to see, when passing through the EK block there is a lot of ristriction so i think it may be combining the air only making them noticeable after the block?

Where i am mounting the Res i dont think i can pull off a drilled out Res and directly mounting the pump into it
Any other fixes for allowing greater flow out of a res into my pump?

Edit, would it be possible to use 5/8'' ID tubing for that one section of pipe from res to pump?
That should allow more flow to the inlet?

Nope. Flow through the entire loop will be determined by flow at your most constricted point (this is true of all fluids). By changing tubing diameters mid-way through your loop you will change the velocity of water through certain sections (narrower tube - higher velocity, wider tube - slower velocity) but the overall flow (liquid per unit time) will not change.

But I am trying to stop cavitation, so if i were to want to do so you are saying i would have to replace all of my tubing/fittings to be the right diameter?
I saw on this forum and one other someone who mounted their RD-30 directly into the Res thus there was no inlet restriction and he had no problems with inlet restriction, but as you said if it was governed by the most constricted point surely the 1/2 tubing would cause cavitation fromhis pump anyway?

if you're looking to stop cavitation, the only way is to have a large enough intake, people have used something like a 1/2" electrical sweep going from the ek 400 to the iwaki rd-30

    But thats what im saying,
If i drill out my Res and mount the intake directly into it with no fittings that will stop it right?

it should, the problem with using the same tubing for the intake as for the rest of the loop is that it starves the loop

    That was my theory,
The intake on the RD-30 is larger than the output for that very reason to stop cavitation, so my thinking way, if i allow 5/8ID tubing for the inlet but keep 1/2 throughout the rest then that should stop cavitation as the inlet is bigger than the outlet?

Okay guys, BIG update tomorrow and ill need some help ust working out where the res goes, apart from that and waiting for my PSU to arrive Mutant_Tractor^3 is done

    EDIT:
Had to pull the Pa120.2 out, it wasnt friendly with my 3xSLI and the pipe routing and mounting of the pump would have been like trying to thread a car at 200mph through a 1ft hole in a concrete wall... death :P

The pics will show what i mean tomorrow

    Preliminary pics:
Excuse the bad quality, when its done ill do a proper shoot
Not the final layout, i was going to mount the res on the roof but it fits nicely in between the drive bays

I need to buy 2x more EK Acetal and Nickel GPU blocks for 8800GTX/Ultras,
If anyone has these and wants to get rid of them pm me please! Its hell finding these things now
I love my 8800 Ultras, theyre legendary cards and i really wanna get em up and running with water

The EK block for my x58 is still on Back Order, the UK distributor cant get any in iv already waited a month so it looks like another month till theyre in...

Today i ordered the MDPC-X Cable sleeving kit which i cant wait to get using, my silverston sst-st1500 is in the mail and iv ordered a new fan rheobus case with on/off switching the Ultra Kazes are seriously loud and make me go hard of hearing in one ear after a while...

Some last minute troubleshooting problems, can you guys help me out with bubbles in the system?
At the moment i just have my CPU and rad in the loop with the RD-30 and almost as soon as i turn the system on the water turns from clear to opaque, and i have tried bleeding and everything imaginable but no luck
Does the loop just need more restriction?
Im waiting on my EK X58 block which STILL hasnt arrived and i have 1x GPU block but the other 2 are air so far (I cant find the block for sale anywhere :/)
    Help meeee please
