Personally only see Gulftown as a mini-upgrade on what we have now.
May well skip this gen altogether.

When first reviews come in you guys will be surprised as to how well these scale as compared to a i7 based on nehalem.

Tough this is a westmere and i have only experience with two gulfy's they are almost the same. But i do think the price tag on the gulftown version i a bit too much
I will get a special gulftown soon "2-3 days" which has similar something....

Wow, you also got a W3680 - nice
JCornell, how much better do these B steps OC compared to the A0 Westmeres? My 3,07G A0 needed around 1,4V to be truly stable at ~4,4G on water, is 4,5 at ~1,35V feasible?
Getting a few chips of my own early next week, unfortunately nothing with that high a multiplier...

Hopefully my incoming X5677 (27x turbo multi quad + HT) will scale comparitively well with voltage for 24/7 (under water with plenty of radiator of course)

JC, I have to say, that wallpaper with the terrified girl looks hilarious.

Looks good, but I'm waiting for either a quad that'll do 5.0ghz on air (we're getting closer. i7 is getting what, 4.2 to 4.4ghz on air now?) or a true 8 core. I'd be waiting anyways, I'm broke. Bring on Sandybridge (and a pay check)!
    You must [not] advance.

    Current Rig: i7 4790k @ stock (**** TIM!) , Zotac GTX 1080 WC'd 2214mhz core / 5528mhz Mem, Asus z-97 Deluxe

hmmm i expected more from 32nm, seems like theres almost no clock boost on air?
good d0 bloomfields get up 4.5 easily, and close to 5g on water

Maybe it will be easier to find a good 32nm chip that can clock up to 4.5Ghz on air for 24/7 than find a bloomfield as you described...
