Hey, does everyone know what I mean by that little square brackety-thing jawn that's held on by 8 screws around the GPU on nVidia cards?

Do I NEED that? I took it off the first card and now I'm wondering whether it provides some sort of structural or thermal stability.....

If so, I've only done it to one card thus far... I'll try to wait for responses....

As you can see, it straddles the intel integrated backplate due to the recessed area, and the triangle feet jawns are the only things that touche the board. Because they are insulated, they can be flat and touch the board directly.

I picked up an extra at micro center just in case I get another 1366 board. It's perfect.

This is horrible I've been waiting for ONE mcw60 because the ones I bought at Micro Center were USED.

I'll post a disgusting picture later. I don't even wanna open them because they're dirty as hell, and I don't want to know what's inside.

The worst part is, Micro Center doesn't know how to stock or distribute, and these waterblocks are on irregular shipments and come one at a time, if I'm lucky.

Micro Center gets shipments on Wednesdays and Fridays, it's an irregular shipment, there's FOUR at the store a state over, but it took them til last week to let me have them ship one in. I asked about it a while ago and they wouldn't do it (AND I WORK THERE). Then, I asked again last week, and now for whatever reason they'll "look into it."

I stole them from the northbridge cooler on the Classy...

Idk exactly what size they are, but I'm sure if you ask around, someone will know

ZIP-ties are trying to keep the tube from flattening. I knew those bends would be tough... oh well. More parts next time.

That dust-off/masking-tape is what I use to make sure that I actually have put the tubes in the right place, and there are no excessive blockages, or large amounts of dust (@_@)

Ok, this is the last single post I will do before there are replies, and I will edit it if I do any work in the next few days, but I do need help.

I have 12 Coolermaster R4's that I need to power. I have a secondary PSU (regular ATX 500W Coolmax) that I will power the pumps and fans from.

I have to do this because all of my fans/rads etc will be external. If someone has a better suggestion of how to power everything, I'm listening.

I do need a good fan controller though, either with 4 or 6 headers to accommodate all those fans, plus maybe one more 200mm for top exhaust. (I'll explain when I put the chimney together).

The question still stands:

I have 12 CoolerMaster R4's that I need to power and control on the radiators. 3 MCR420's. I'm thinking of joining them at a 45 degree angle to make a bit of a curve, stick it in the corner of the "L" on my desk, and exhaust the hot air through the top with a leftover CoolerMaster 200MM fan from my HAF932.


If there are any suggestions, I'd love to hear them

Maybe you could buy an adjustable power supply, like a meanwell S-150 that some places carry meant for TECs. It could double as a fan controller too, just turn voltage down.

I have always wondered exactly what the point and utility was for those.

Adjustable voltage is interesting... I will consider that. I have an extra 500W coolmax sitting around.


Oh man, and I need to power the pumps too!

Since it's not too much power, you could try hooking one of those laptop style power bricks up to a fan controller, but it has to be a 12V one.

And actually, does anyone know what the amp draw on those fans is at startup compared to running? I'm talking max RPM of course. Easier to plan for the most...

Your fans are low speed, they pull maybe 2.5 amps combined? Probably less. The pumps pull less than 1A each. Hmmm so I suppose you'd need around 100W to be safe for startup or something.

The R4's are 2000RPM.
How is that low? Damn, I thought that was fast!
