Toast n'water -lets wet the bread, starting 20/01

Well, here in Brazil the choices go down to just 2 options that could fit it:

    GMC R2 Toast
    CM Elite 340

    so here goes:

I'll put it togheter with my Tv, something like HTPC, but don't want to leave the casemod "aspect".
Both ar very beautiful for this purpose.

It WILL be "matx friendly", in fact, I love micro boards..... but with room for at least, decent vga's...

On the Cm option, the rad would fit in the front, removing the HDD cage and cutting a hole on the bottom of the lower DVD bay.
The case would have, this way, 2x120mm intake ( flawed by the rad, but some air intake) and PSU + 120mm exhaust. Would be fair.
The hard drives would be installed in the bottom of the case, with L-beams supports attached to the floor by rivets.

On the Toast option, the rad would be on the floor of the case, as its a full-atx case, giving me like 9cm gap between the vga and the bottom of it.
BUT this case, that looks more like a challenge and somewhat not explored, have NO air intake. The rad fans would need to be used as intake, under the rad, to provide some air in the case. And could be added some top 120mm exhaust in the upper right corner if needed. This build would require some high feets to provide decent intake at the bottom.

Both builds could have some trouble cooling the hard drives ( I use two) but no big deal, and the pump/WC gear would be an epic struggle to fit, but I already have some Ideas in both.....

    What say You?

    Pics for enlightment

    toast
(look the "gills" on the plastic cover, I could remove the DVD drive and add an intake fan there, or use some 5.1/4" to 3.1/2" adapter and use the HD there)

    elite 340
( I could fit the pump at the side of the bottom front fan, if you could imagine that, and the Swiftech MicroREV at the side of the PSu, may fit)

    How about this one?

    The Silverstone SG03.

Can't you get it there? I've seen a 240mm radiator installed in the front. That was such a nice mod...

Every time I see a thread like this, I'm tempted to drop down to a mATX form factor. Powerful rigs in small packages, just something about it is amazing.

Wouldn't an option be to use a block-mounted pump? I personally don't like them, but with a small mATX like that, I don't think there'd be much space, unless you are able/willing to hide all the cables away from the front of the chassis (where a pump /could/ fit).

Wow, another elite 340, a am also working on a water setup for that same system.
@bobsama, yes the block mounted pump would be the best for this, and taking off the hard drive rack gave me room for a 240 rad if needs be, but thats after a little modifying.

I Bought the GMC Toast, in black.

Was so cheap that if everything goes bad, I Still can purchase the 340.
Decided to take the cheaper first.

Arrives Tuesday, and then starts the log.

    EDIT:

after lots of thinking, I decided to try another scheme. In theory, seems perfect. Hope it's "makeable"

What size rad and fans do you plan on using?

I have the XSPC RX360 and it is stupidly thick 58mm. Also I originally had san ace's bolted to it so that's another 38mm. This is simply too thick. If you had a 25mm fan and an mcr220, you'd be set IMO. I think the height wouldn't touch a single card set up.

What do you actually plan on cooling? The cpu? the video card?

I would do the 120mm exhaust infront of the psu as well.

Hey man, nice to see you around.
    The setup:

    DP-1200 pump ( jingway)
    240D radiator - 30mm (h) x 120mm(w) x 276mm(L) - from watercooling.com.br
Swiftech MicroRES v1. (sadly, no bottom hole)
Some nice budget fans from Cooler master, White LED, 25mm ( I changed BLUE to WHITE)

here are some shots from yesterday...
the fitting of the rad at top and/or bottom ( still making my mind of wich)
trying to put the pump at the side of the rad....

the set... and detail of the custom-made block, for 775/1156/1366
Plus some pics of the spacing tests....

... and this is the looks if I manage to revert the case.
As you know, the top-side-bottom are just one folded metal sheet. So, take it out, turn and put it back.
I'll change the HDD cage for something i have in here, spare from the fulltower

    I'll be watching this.

What are you doing about the front panel? My R-3's panel cannot be flipped around to fit on the other side.

For what I found, the R-2 can be flipped, the pins of the front bezel are equally spaced top and bottom, so is the case.
And the DVD brackets are doubled, i think I could do it.

And my shopping list from yesterday night....

    two of each one

    and one of these...

I'm really curious to see how well you fit WC into the toaster. Looks identical to a "bulldozer" case. Reviews said it had 0 room inside of it.

    yep, interior is the same.....
    0 space is the same......

    but I'm stubborn.... aiuehaiehapaiuaieh

and now wrapping the rad, taking the pencil and getting the borders...
Ill cut it in cardboard to keep the model. It will be useful afterwards....

On a serious note, the front panel of the r-3 is not symmetrical, so I can't reverse the case like you did. If I ever build a computer for someone using these cases, I'll keep that in mind. If I could just buy the front bezel, I'd be set since the shell itself is identical on the r-2, r-3 and bulldozer.

I can't wait to see this fit. I always thought an I7 would be awesome in this case and I think that would make it possible.

i'm really sorry , my bad.

The holes ARE aligned, Sinthetic, BUT a little dislocated to the side. just some millimiters, but dislocated.
You're right. Tried it now, it fits, but the front bezel stays a little off the left side.

I think it fits, but is that a sugestion, or what?
my project is on the GO, so......

the rad template is cut, and sketches are made....

    and it's done!

I've made two more holes on the bottom of the case, to allow me to use the rad under it, adding internal space if needed ( Dual vgas or sound card + vga.)
And it should look like this

And its time to start searching for the feet. I thought in something like this, used on the "cosmos" orientation... on the depth orientation

So what made you want to put the rad on what will be the top of the case? Or is the case going to stay in its normal orientation?

I like the idea of it being external. Simply better air flow and heat dissipation.

Both the cpu & video cards are going to be liquid cooled?
