its very strange...i have in LinX higher temps than in prime. 49 with with cooling and room temps? I had 58-59 in LinX 15 000 with 1.52V (in prime 55-57).

I have seen a couple of articles mentioning a 95 watt Phenom II 955 due out soon, although the AMD site still shown 125 watts for the 955 C3 stepping.

Hi guys.
I finally finished installing the new CPU...

first some questions.

I live in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, it´s too warm and we are in summer.

I could get 3.888mhz stable with 1.4V and 2.6ghz NB speed.

My motherboard has a feature that I really HATE:

IT´s a Gigabyte MA-78GM - U2SH AM2+ ( i think ít´s not the best option for a high end 955 BE C3 processor...) the cooler automatically increases and descreases the cooler speed with the temperature of the processor...
imagine when my processor is reaching almost 70º C.
the cooler is at 6000 rpm. Maybe this could damage the AMD inbox Cooler.
PLEASE...
1 question)Is it normal? to have the cooler in this speed? almost 6000 rpm? Could this damage the INBOX cooler????


2 Question)
Will I have to wait the WInter to put my litle baby at 4.0 ghz????

After I uninstalled the Program That comes with Gigabyte for Overclock.

The temperatures and the cooler speed are better now...

About the clocks

Get an aftermarket cooler, the stock cooler will not be enough when overclocking, especially when you live in such a hot place..

The fan wont break down unless you feed it more that +12v, which i highly doubt your motherboard will do.
You should be able to change it in the bios, so the fan keeps a set speed instead of auto adjusting depending on cpu temp.

GUYS... IT´S SOOO STRANGE...

NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE THIS...
WELL AFTER UNINSTALLED THE BOTH PROGRAMNS FOR CONTROLLING/MONITORING THE CPU.. EVERYTHING COMES TO NORMAL.

I THINK THE "AMD OVERDRIVE" AND THE "GIGABYTE EASY TUNE".
I think these programs act direct in the bios... it´s fu$@ing crazy.

Well after uninstalled everything was normal. CPU temps. went really DOWN.

like NOW.
I am running my Phenom II 955
CPU SPEED OVERCLOCKED : 3.8ghz
CPU VOLTAGE : 1.32V

CPU IDLE TEMP : 42 º C
CPU LOAD TEMP: 60 º C (running LinX)

I can get the 4ghz from this little baby...
I can´t believe It, linX stable.
Only 1.32 V

now i ´m really afraid if i damaged the cpu or not.
with that crazy (past configuration), my psu was pointing 300W under load.

now with 4ghz under load it never passes 220w.
I was really afraid of how much voltage was being sent to the cpu...
damn... whats the maximun of the cpu can handle???

Look of what´s amazing. The Motherboard sets the vcore to 1.325v
At this voltage i cant get 4ghz.

at 1.31v I cant get 3.8ghz from this little baby

I did have.. one is sold, got one bad and one good left.(did get one good and two bad)

This is my second 955. It's also a 0945MPMW. This is just a megahalem with a 110cfm panaflo, and a hr05 on the NB for the gd-70.
