    Nikon sb-24 flash

Will it work with the D90, I need to sync it with the shutter to be able to do water drop let photography.

The flash would have to be off camera and triggered remotely. Can I do that with this flash and the d90?

It will work off camera but I think you will be limited to 1/200 or 1/250 depending on what the D90 is capable of for shutter sync.
How are you planning to trigger it?

Can I trigger it wireless from the camera itself, or do i need a wireless trigger?

Not sure. I believe the SB-24 was a film flash so it may not have an optical slave built in. Most times people use it just as a manual flash triggered trough a transmitter/receiver like the CTR-301P or the RF-602.
I'm sure you can ask in the Strobist group on Flickr since it is one of the most popular flashes.

I really believe you need a transmitter/receiver for the SB-24.

It will fire. That's about it. It won't sync, won't work in ttl. You can't fire wireless.
