i know this is somewhat off topic, but what startup temp do you guys usually use for booting? i was told 80% of your total unloaded temp
I've always fireup when my unit hit -40c on SS and -80 on cascade
Yes I do, my Phase does not have a controller so its np. I also have a temp probe and use a Fluke to watch temps, when it gets to 50c or so I shut off the Comp and let it sit for a minute.
All I do when I fire up the comp is just bring into the BIOS and let it sit while watching the temps.
the new gear came... so im going to try to make a stepper later today...
wrongexcept it is 2" diameter
They were made in USA and I thought they worked as good as any I've seen. The evap teyber made is a similar design. I will have more made here in Dallas soon.
This is a coldwave
Praz got one and made the best looking single stage in the world with it. I would like to add that it performs very well. Praz has put us all to shame. LOL![]()

This is what I'm talking about. Guess it's easier to built a rocket and land on the moon then to make a perfect contact between the evap and the cpu:
...
Tried everything. No pressure, a little pressure, a lot of pressure etc
There is NO way to get this this to work; the evap's head just gets hidden inside the foam and the contact is lost
I need a new mount. Sorry Teyber this rant has nothing to do with your thread besides the fact that I need to test your mounts.![]()
Jor3lBR to be so hard on yourself
Just use a layer or two of blue shop towel around that area, have a foam ring that goes around the evap inclosure to seal it all tight.
I have that problem also from time to time, mostly with a new piece of foam. It does get squashed down pretty thin after I reuse it time and time again.
You contact does not look that bad tho. Just be sure to not over tighten your hold down screws as that can warp the MB abd cause strange issues.
Plus I do not use o-rings at all so I dont have that extra space needed for that. Its all good tho., if your mount needs the o-ring then I see no harm.
You use a layer of frost king on top of the eraser ?
I do not use that as it just adds extra heigth to the insulation area, just stack up the eraser to the top of the CPU IHS. Any extra pressure from the evap enclosure will squash that down.
Teyber what the latest here.

frustrating mistakes cost me a lot of money in aluminum and a lot of time tonight...
some holes were straight up off?(very frustrating) so i had to re-do about 2 hours of cad work... then redo about an hour of cam work..
but i should have 3 hold downs at the end of the night. just have to cut out the backplates and its ready (tomorrow, i have to go to bed now...)

Is there a reason why the aluminum is so thick?
Eric,
I would have replied sooner but the compression explosion device in my motion traction system needed to be replenished with distillation fractionation of fossilisation extraction....
