there are a lot of threads about ppl having problems with those platinum sticks on this board, so imo your best option is to switch ram.

I guess ure right on that, funnily they initially started testing it with the gd70 and showed some rgeat clocks and thats why I bought them to start with. Whats a good kit of ram for this board now?

Corsair GTS 2000 Cas 8 4 Gigs.........1866 Cas 7 6gig triple channel GTS, hyper chips cant go wrong, i have the 2000 cas 8 kits they run solid on this board. The 2000 cas 8 GTS i have got 1880 cas 7, 1820 cas 6, and about 1776 cas 6 stable on this board, so your ram problems would be over if you got either kit.

Well guys i took of the heatpipe and heatsink setup on this board and cleaned off the chips southbridge and NB and lightly sanded them to get them clean. I then sanded the bottom of the heatsinks lightly and applied some OCZ Freeze, and now checking my Nb temps its has droped 4c wow what a nice impovment, and it is very easy to do

Hi guys, quick question. For the first time I am limited by volts rather than temps...I want to do a suicide run, but am not able to get my volts above 1.55V on the board. I set the second CPU V in the bios to 1.65 and the CPU V to 1.55, but it still stays at 1.55v only...how do u dial in more voltage??

i had problems at first but it was just cause the volts weren't high enough at the recommend 1.65, but was just fine a 1.72

Wow thats a lot of volts to get it going...think i will stick to 1.65 and 1333 as it seems to be faster as well.

I have an important question. I am currently using BIOS 1.3 which has been rock solid since i got the motherboard some months ago. I dont have any problems overclcoking or stability issues but I have just ordered an Intel SSD drive. Now, I have read a lot of articles regarding the bad SATA support on the MSI board compared to other 790FX boards. It wants to have an AMD Raid Driver just to get the maximum performance out of a single HDD. All this makes me think that i wont be getting the best performance out of my SSD right out of the box compared to all other Intel ICH9 controllers which are pretty much better in terms of SATA support. My question is do any of you have a SSD drive hooked up and which bios are you using ? I see that Bios 1.5 for this board has some sort of SATA controller improvement, do i need to update from my 1.3 ? Any1 using 1.3 + SSD, if so can you post some performance screenshots with native Windows 7 AHCI drivers (automatic trim support) compared to AMD AHCI drivers (manual trim support needed with some 3rd party tool from the SSD manufacturer.) ? All this SSD stuff makes me dizzy and i want to get it right from the first try when i get my Intel X-25M.. Thanks in advance.

Good question as I'm considering the move to an SSD in the near future. I'm sure someone here is running the GD70 and an SSD.

i´m running an ocz agility 120gb on my gd70.
    here´s an atto bench:

    i´m running win7 ultimate x64.
but u can´t really tell if trim is activated or not. i flashed the ssd to a firmware that supports trim, so i hope that it´s working. running wiper doesn´t really change the numbers in atto, so i guess trim is working.

I've checked around the the web and it seems that AMD SB750 is not as great as the Intel chipsets with SSDs. Here are some results from me with my Intel X-25M G2.

AS SSD result is a bit lower than the Intel chipsets but I think thats expected. I have yet to see SB750 with 400 points with an Intel X-25M G2. Nonetheless, ATTO is rocking and the performance is phenomenal compared to a traditional spinner. Very happy ! I haven't tried the AMD AHCI drivers and I don't advise doing it since it degrades the performance, for Intel X-25M G2 that is.

Try to turn off the C1E in the BIOS.

As some of you may know I lost a board only on water.

It's a board i use for reviews strictly and was not out of bounds of normal.....ln2 boards don't get RMA's unless requested by manufacturer.

Just the way I do things.

Anyway very fast turnaround, kudos to MSI. I think I sent this shortly before my trip to CES.

I've been getting the same, but usually when prime testing at my current clocks and volts and also if i push the volts and clocks up to get 4Ghz. Hopefully the new bios's that have been posted will sort this out
