Guys asking for templates - you have to test your hardware and figure out yourself what it requires for 4GHz, 4.2GHz, 4.5GHz etc. No one else can tell you what your equipment needs!

The rest of us do it all ourselves, and spent the time to learn and test. Overclocking is not something where you just set some voltages and speeds and be done with it in 15 minutes. It takes time and patience. Do it properly! If you couldn't be bothered, leave your system at stock speeds.

That not helpful and kinda unfriendly. Templates give people a place to start from and work off . The may not work exactly but then again since they are the same motherboards and similar chips, they could work just fine. Why not give the guy a starting point. If you just look back a few threads there are some very helpful templates people have posted that you can work from example http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...10275&page=132 Also here is a good over clocking guide that will help you as well. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/fea...imits?page=0,1

On a side note anyone know where you can find a list of rampage extreme II Revision I cannot find it on ASUS web site

I'm sorry you feel that way, but it was certainly not meant to sound unfriendly. I have helped a lot of people with their overclocks on this forum. I don't mind at all when people show they are thinking for themselves and trying different things out and ask a question (or lots of questions); what I don't much like is when they seem to have done no reading nor tried anything for themselves, and simply ask something like "i have this board and a 920 give me settings for 4.5GHz thx"

That's why I wrote what I wrote, to hopefully give those people pause, so that they may do some ground work themselves and learn from it. There are lots of guys here who understand exactly what I mean.

Further, the starting point guys are asking for should not be 4 / 4.2 GHz etc. The true starting point, and one we can all find very easily, is stock settings with everything on auto. Overclockers work their way up from stock, set everything manually, and find and change settings as needed to go higher. It's a process, and it's different for every setup. Once you run into a wall, then it's time to come on here and ask questions.

If you can't see the wisdom in what I wrote that's fine, but don't mislabel it as unhelpful and unfriendly.

    I completely agree with you.
But I have the feeling that by every year there are even more people that donīt have a clue about oc and are too lazy read learn and try and just come around with some "do me"s and "give me"s.
Donīt get me wrong I have nothing against oc-beginners ... we all started once upon a time... ( even King Pin )... but the most of "us" learned by doing and reading and trying etc...
I really get anoyed by people with their "give me an template" - "that didnīt work... do something".
I do oc for about 20 years, every year I learn new about ocīing new hardware and I canīt understand that those people think that they can do it in about 5 minutes ( or just too lazy to learn ).
Only cause they bought a expensive OC-Board it got to work by itself !?!

There is nothing wrong in asking for a clue or a hint but when "they" expect others to do their oc...

But I just stop right here ... thats not the topic
    Just my 2 cents.

Man you are shoooting waaaaaaaay too high, get 4.0 first then you can think of a little higher.

Most 920 D0 with a good water cooling would reach 4.2-4.4 GHZ and some would break the 4.5GHz, but the 4.8 is a little hard to reach unless you really have a lucky CPU with some good Cooling.

I think andest2003 was just joking around guys (because of what I said earlier). I may be wrong of course but that's my impression.

Well i came in to ask is anyone else having issues after 220 blck? After 220 blck it is like this board acts crazy. Didn't know if there was something else to try to find out if it is my cpu walling or not. I guess i could try a lower multi and raise the blck and see. Or if anyone has any suggestions that i should try.

just curious.. what X58 chipset revision do you have?? B2? B3?

Did you try the slower qpi ratio?

All i see is rev 12 for the chipset and rev 2.xx for the board in cpu-z. My qpi is on auto at the moment. As that is what i'm trying to figure out what to change to see if i can get past it.

well if you are on bios 1639 you can select a slower qpi mode, with that maybe can gain a couple mhz more in bclk.... (not useful for 24/7 or 3d benchs, but for spi and other will do fine)

What version do i have b2 or b3 and how do you tell. This is the max so far i have reached. But perhaps i am on the limit for air though.

I know it isn't my ram because i'm not even at spec for it on. Will the selecting a lower multi and raising the blck trick work to see if it is just a motherboard wall? something like 13 * 240, would work right?

Man consider your self lucky that you are able to reach 220 Bclk with this mobo, some of us are only stuck at 210-212 Bclk.

Any other changes? Can the PLL voltage be reduced below 1.80v? Can the Round Trip Latency bet set to specific values in stead of the advance/delay/normal/auto crap?

I'm not too keen to flash an FTP only BIOS to test, last time I did that I had some issues.

EDIT: Here's the FTP link if anyone's keen to try it before it goes official: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/LG...ageII_Extreme/

Nope, PLL does not go below 1.80v. Round Trip Latency has

QPI Link Data Rate has "Slow Mode" option now.

Also 1639 Core temps #1 and #2 showed the same, #3 and #4 showed the same -> Now with 1704 all cores are different temps and updating individually.

    Thanks for the info.

I told Asus we need those options (PLL <1.80v and ability to set RTL manually to a fixed value)

Hopefully the nest BIOS update has the changes made. IlluminatiAsus asked me what I wanted changed, and I explained it all, so I better not have wasted my time.

    Hello

with the 2 latest BIOS (1639 and 1704) I still have problem of cold boot (stuck on DET RAM CHECK or CPU) have to reboot and OC Failed ....

no problem if I reboot (and no problems with the bios 1504)
    I think it's because I have the ram @ 2000Mhz

    in bios, option 2nd information (timming) it's 1N 54-57-57, it's normal?

    someone would have an idea?

    thank you

try 2N, and relax your Back 2 Back Cas delay to 8 or 10.
what volts are you giving to qpi/dram?

    Hello

    already tested with 2N
specifications of my memory are 7-8-7-20 @ 2000Mhz
    vQPI to 1.50v in bios

I think it would set a "skew" of memory or something like that

    thanks
