@ Pizza..if the XFX9600GT uses the same IC controller as the 8800's...I have confirmed the mod. ID# on the IC is something like 'B9NJ' 'er something of this nature..dont have it in front of me atm..

Hi guys, I'm about to start my journey into a voltmod. I have full access to all the proper tools, and all the parts required. And a 4 probe digital oscilloscope. I'm learning electronics at my college and so we have a full blown lab with everything needed to do basic electronics and a little more.
This will be my first computer hardware voltage mod.

Anyone have some experience with BFG ?

I posted some pics, cause' I see everyone else doing this. I'm going to ask the experts if I need to take some better more zoomed in pics so they can double check where I need to do the volt mods too. Also, I took off the heatsink and applied some arctic silver ceramic instead of the default material. The etching on the ram surface was difficult to read but it's the 'better' samsung ram.
Currently I'm running 704/1773/1087 core/shader/mem with no artifacts in atitool. I also noticed that this is what they call the 'reference card' I should have no problems as there is lots of info about doing the mods.

With ref design you are going to have to do a VID mod.

    Measure points:

I used the VID mod info from here:
    reference designhttp://www.ur-hardware.com/guide/17-...20-9600gt-vmod
    http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-49...-volt-mod.html
Stock 1.15v VID (the two links above say that stock is 1.1v, but I've yet to see a 9600GT with 1.1v. All have been 1.15v.

The 1.30V VID worked great for me on air.

If you need help figuring out which VIDs to connect or disconnect to get your desired VID, just ask and I will be glad to help.

I also added a VR so I could tune the voltage as needed.

    GPUv

Hope this helps a little. Also, BFG uses Hynix memory chips on this card. Don't even bother to mod them has they will die a quick death.

thanks for your reply; PizzaMan I really appreciate it. Regarding the memory, I read on the DDR3 chip surface that they were manufactured by SAMSUNG. Does this still matter ?

Nice you got lucky. The BFG card I got was Hynix. You can run the Samsung at 2.1-2.2v.

The vMEM mod can be done three different ways.
You can use this pad with a 100K VR:

VR ajusted ~90k ohms will get you 2.2v

If you find that pad hard to hit with the tall resistor next to it you can use this other point labeled in this link or pencil the resistor next to it. http://www.ur-hardware.com/guide/17-...20-9600gt-vmod

I like how you attached the potentiometers!

    I don't understand the question?

I can tell you this. You are going to need to do a vid mod to get around OCP.

    Employ potentiometers?
    What about resistances?

Do these values will be good ?
100kΩ for vGPU between the marked point and ground.
200kΩ for vMEM between the marked point and ground.

    I will achieve that tension.

    Yes, those values will work.

Keep in mind that for vGPU, you will need to do the VID mod or ~1.2v will be your limit.

Will suffice they for me 1.45v?
Will be other nothing or 1.45v?

Is capability on or if vmod 1.6v?

    This opinion sentence thinks too
Increase in vcore voltage over 1.4 v, do not improve the clock frequencies.

Anything over 1.35v will depend greatly on cooling.

Can it be included at it v-mod OVP?
    http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-49...-volt-mod.html

As at tension during 1.3v 3DMArk06 and it falls on below tense me 830Mhz GPU 1v, and it does not start test.
    Happens what?

Which VID voltage are you using? IF OCP is tripping and core voltage is defaulting to 1v then you need to use a higher VID.

    I have made 1.3v.
There is at ok 820Mhz on GPU.
As it on during beginning of test put tension fall 830Mhz 1.0v.
    What is there?
It walks about test here 3DMark06.

You are tripping OCP. Raise the VID to 1.35v and you should be able to push a little higher.

The potentiometer is not needed, but you can increase a little bit over VID voltage with it.

But it can employ potentiometer will be it and then, tension?
Because it falls on at over tension 830Mhz GPU 3DMark06.
And at 1.2v and there is just 1.3v.

Try the 1.35 or 1.4v VID.

Sorry if my answers aren't what you're looking for. I don't really understand what you are asking.
