Talking EXCLUSIVE! New EVGA Classified Dual-Proc Board - 270-GT-W555!

I just came out of my meeting at the EVGA suite here in Las Vegas and I have some great pictures and new specs to report on this hot board! I was able to have some one on one time with EVGA's Jacob Freeman and Peter Tan (aka Shamino) and was able to see this new board hands-on (a world first).

Please follow me to TechREACTION to get the full report, exclusive new specs & info, and some good shots of the board and EVGA crew.

Wow, it is capable of +525 watts of power for the board? (3x 6 pin, 2x 8 pin) I guess this board was build as a nice DICE/LN2 board.

    WOW!!!

This is a much better shot than the ones in the other thread.

I have to say, I don't like the sata placement at all. I would have preferred 90 degree sata ports. There's IDE (WHY?) but at least no FDD in sight.

If this board will come in closer to $450 than $550, I could see a lot of people dropping the cash on one of these, at least on XS.

Now how are we going to power this guy? I see how the two 8pin powers plugs will work, but are the 6 pin for PCI-E power?

I take it that since this can use two entirely different CPU's that this will be able to use desktop chips.

And the pricing! It makes me really want this even though I have no use for it at all.

    You're a lucky guy.

This board's layout is really nice for a dual socket board (although the 6-pin and 8-pin power connectors could have been placed perhaps somewhat more to the left and be lined up more and SATA could have been 90 degree bent but that's a minor thing). Should do fine for some abuse.

So do we need to use PCI-E 6 pin connectors for this motherboard?

Either that or we need a completely new type of PSU just to get this thing going, along with being a longer then normal E-ATX means not many cases will take it.

    Will 1500 watts be enough?

    Probably not.....

Don't forget about the 300 watts coming from the 24-pin.

Loving the look of this board It's kinda useless, and probably way too expensive for most, but it still rocks

That is a monster of a board. Its more than likely going to need 1 powersupply all just for the board itself. Then another for graphics setups unless some power supply companies bring out some other monster supply dedicated for this kind of set up.

It also looks like good aircoolers are going to be out of the question with both sockets and dimm slots being so close together. So water cooling would be the only option.

If you can afford this set up (two i920s, minimum 6gb ddr3) I doubt the cost of a single or dual loop + case would really be an issue.

I'd love a board like this, but I'm not throwing away my MuderMod chassis I built just to use this, if EVGA want my money they need to give performance and drop the weird formats and those NF 200's.

Cost may not be an issue to all, its the novalty of still using top end aircooling. I'm not too huge a fan of water or LN2.

Weird format as in it's longer down then E-ATX, meaning I need a new chassis, the same with those 6pin power ports.

Supermicro will easily win over this for me since I get what I can use and get some of the best Reliability around.

Also SLI does with without nf200, as been proven before.

I'm sure we don't need the second thread about the same thing.
Having said that... I'm officially jealous!

Nice photos of the crew and stuff btw!

    That'll be interesting.

We won't see any Mugens on this guy.

Wonder if Venom / TRUE / MEGA will actually fit somehow....

not enough SATA connectors there to be honest, for an ultimate workstation board I'd expect no less than 12

MSRP is still unknown, but I was able to ascertain that it will be between $450 and $550, pricey but to be expected for a board of this caliber and quality.
Very acceptable considering the first Classified boards costed 450$.

    thanks for the update

Expect boards to arrive to the market sometime in April, or possibly later if BIOS tuning takes longer than expected.
i seriously think this will never see the light of day, how hard would it have been to load a basic bios so you could switch the lights on?

hell i strongly suspect that this is purely a prototype, muddled together for hype. the board looks like someone has just stuck power connecters all over it to encourage some kind of power/performance speculation. and i havent quite put my finger on it yet, but there is something very odd about this board, i am still looking at it, so the jury is out as of just yet.
