The end game in Aion is all about PvP and the grind to get there, just like all the others.

I am not sure how long I will be playing it, but so far its fun. It's just another online game to me.

Aion is just the new kid on the block atm
Uhh, not really. The basics are the same, yes, because thats the nature of the genre, but alot of games are very different from one another.

I have played EVE, WoW, DAoC, CoH, LOTRO, EQ1, EQ2, SWG, AoC, GW, PotBS, PotC, Second Life, and Vanguard.

The only one thats kept my attention for a long period of time is EQ2 (and EQ1 before that).

SWG managed to hold me for a good 8 or 9 months. Lets face it, its Star Wars. Thats a glowing recommendation right there.

EVE was unique but I couldn't get over the fact that there was no Avatar and flying was aggravating.

The others were all pretty much clones of each other, occasionally leaning toward PvP or toward PvE with nothing but the graphics to distinguish from each other.

Incidentally, I found LOTRO to be incredibly... annoying. Though I do have to say that their format for housing was actually my suggestion during beta, and I'm quite proud that they took it even if they didn't credit me with the idea. LOTRO just wasn't at all like the books in anything other than name, and the way the graphics look seemed primitive and wrong to me. It could have been so much better.

Do you need to level up every hour or something? If you get to the end quickly, then what is there to do? I don't mind going 5-10 hours without leveling up as long as I am enjoying playing with my guild. friends, etc.

These MMOs have been so "dumbed" down that everyone expects to hit max level in a week or two. The old days of Everquest, when you hit a hell level, you would be there for 10 hours until you leveled.

I guess you can either get bored with the grind or bored with being high level and not having much to do except make an alt.

Devs can't make everyone happy.... there is always going to be a constant debate between casual and hardcore playstyles.

i for one like games where hitting max level takes a long time. Theres less incentive to rush, and enjoy the content, meet good people. Loved FFXI, which was a pretty brutal grindfest. I'm playing a few hours a day, and doing different things to breakup nonstop leveling grind. Crafting isn't bad since I can read a book or do other things while my components go. I also joined a casual guild , because I know I can't do that whole hardcore grind / play anymore now.

Either way, everyone has their own playstyle. Most important thing is that you are having fun.... if not, then this game is not for you. So far I'm enjoying it a lot

I stay away from games like this cause they're too addictive... and I don't really like the angular graphics that look like they have low res textures in most of the games like this. But holly crap that first chick is hot as hell. RAWR.
This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions, twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I'll still be here tomorrow to high-five you yesterday, my friend. Peace.

So I just recently bought this game and started playing, and Ihave to say it is awesome in every way! After starting with Ultima back in the day then wasting years on EQ FFXI and WoW I find AIOn to be a pleasant mix of the 3 but made more for people who cant hardcore game all the time but still want to progress! All in All this game is perfect and I hope it continues to get better!

Would be better if it had more people. The one thing it is lacking right now is a giant community playing the game.

Thats because over 50k accounts have been banned for one reason or another, mostly botting and RMT.

I stopped playing at about level 38 as I simply could not grind another 1,000+ of the same mobs over and over, again and again, and it only gets worse as you level higher.

Be careful now as there appears to be some form on account hack going on, or simply something really bad at NCsofts back end where you login to your account and actually get into some one elses. This has happened to me on the NCSoft website where you can look at different things.

Change your password often and make sure you NCsoft Master Account password and the Aion password are not the same.

I really, really enjoyed the game up until the 30's then it all just feel apart.

sorry to bring this back from the dead..(I actually still play Aion)..but, if you are in the DC Metro area, SAIC is doing a study that requires you to play for an hour, and they actually pay you...not bad
