I love the Velvia look Marin.
    Very nice Abishek.

Here's one I took a couple of months back but just processed. The slight vertical blur on his left eye it because of the fence wire that is extremely out of focus.

The "old" one isn't an L lens. By most accounts, the regular non L/non IS 100 macro USM is the better lens (with the exception of IS and weather-sealing) and 1/2 the price.

Crank up your ISO will give you that affect. But you can do it in programs like PS.

cranking the iso wont give you THAT effect and nothing near that amount of effect.
this was done using GIMP since i was in Ubuntu at the time. (windows people can use it too of course) it was using GEGL under the tools menu and then using c2g which automatically converts to b&w .

It will give you a grainy effect still. Something that can look very good in b/w photos. I said it can be done in PS.

no Mesca your criticism was a direct knock down, that is not criticism.
your point of view of the picture is irrelevant, he took the picture for himself your view of the makeup, lighting, layout, etc etc are what is criticism.
you attacked the picture as a whole is pointless.
    no picture is pointless.

if your analogy or thought were true then 99% of the pictures in this thread would be pointless...
who gives a crap about Marin's film cameras, especially ancient ones like he has taken pictures of... (i dont feel that way, i am just making a point)
is that pointless?..... if not,, then why? because YOU think its cool?
i think its cool too but maybe Elisha thinks its stupid and pointless to show pictures of a dead technology,,,

    the point again is capturing the moment, the person, the object is N E V E R E V E R pointless....

I was writing looong answer and then I realized .. I donīt care. You or your opinion wonīt force me to change what I wrote. Maybe if author explained what that pic was about, then it could be bit more interesting..

Yea and donīt make assumptions about persons you donīt know. Or what you think they think. Cause usually, they are pretty wrong.
