Question Having A Hard Time Finding A Water Block For XFX HD 5770

    Hello one and all,
So here is my dilemma, I wanted to upgrade my Graphics card and I was finally able to get my hands on a HD 5770 XFX version. So I figured I would just water cool it, BUT,, there are no water blocks for this Card that I know of, I searched for god knows how many hours and all I was able to come with was this I called Koolance and they told me that i could use it and it would work. (I must say they do have good tech support I was able to get through with no effort)

Any how, It looks like this is my only option or is it?
I'm only doing one loop just the GPU, the Vregs and memory will have to get Heat sinks, that is if this is my only option. And I was thinking of getting the koolance RP-1000BK Res & pump and CTR-CD10BK Controller Seeing as I am limited on space as you can see from the pictures below, I have no problem modding a 240 Rad and I was thinking of getting yate loon fans? in to the top of the case and just take out the blow hole.

Tips / Suggestions are welcome As I am not all that sure of the Quality of the Koolance items I found

    Thank you In advance
    SGTDRE

Eddy said they would have one coming out for the 5770 - maybe it's just not available at the retail sites yet?

+1 full covers are a waste of cash really unless you would be keeping the block for years and years a mcw60 will even sell for a way higher price second hand after use then a full cover.

That looks like a 61mm (diagonally) hole pattern. AFAIK, there are no adapters for core only blocks for that size. I wish they would because I have a few cards here myself that use that size as well.

I think I remember seeing a way where a member altered the MCW-60 by taking off the chrome bracket (which the screws would originally screw into) and then line the allen wrench screws up with the holes and find a way to mount it. It was when a member fitted two MCW-60s to a 4870X2... I'll look for that thread.

it's a shame to have a "universal" block that doesn't fit in your new 140 euro card

the problem is, that when you remove the allen screws the block is disassembled, in my case, the water wil ruin my card. if that works, maybe i should drain my loop and then fit the block at the card.

I mounted the MCW60 on my 2900xt with 8800 plate and the screws at an angle. The holes look mighty close together on that card though so that may not work. As a side not I also agree that full cover blocks are a waste (especially on a mainstream card).

Also, what card is that huge cooler on in your pic there?

Thats what I was referring to, it should work. Many members have used the MCW like this before with no problems... and at worst - if it leaks the water will fall down (unless you have a lian li case that mounts the card with cooler side up).

you could just use a small nut to tighten the block together between the card and the copper, then just use a nut on the reverse side of the card to tighten the whole thing down.

60 euros is not much for a full cover block. Mine were 120 euros each (EK FC260GTX GT200b). I could've afforded GTX 275s if the blocks were 60 euros each .

Looks good to me. If it's sealed properly and those holes line up with your card I don't foresee any problems.

Cool Was out of Service for a while here

I apologize for this Very late reply.

Thank you to all that replied to my OP, I had to change out 1 HDD and do a complete reformat and reinstall the OS WinXp Pro With SP3 and all the updates from MS Update.

As for the pictures I posted, the Video card you there is an OLD HD 2900 XT works great but with newer games is Struggling and Over Clocking it, well I have been running in to issues getting to OC, that is why I bought the XFX 5770. And once I get my new rig built this Rig will be given to my Daughters.

Any how while being out of service here with the PC, all I had was phone numbers, so I was making a lot of calls in reference to finding a block for the 5770. So far I have just about everything except for the cooling fluid, I'm thinking of going with the Blue Feser
