Put a GTX260 next to my HD5870 and the results from Fluidmark are following:

    Physx OFF: FPS: min=7 max=325 avg=25

    Physx ON: FPS: min=117 max=431 avg=152

My CPU is an E8400 OCed to 4.0ghz. The GTX260 was at stock clocks during the tests.

If anyone has problems getting physx to work, follow this guide: http://www.mymobile88.com/enable-act...ation-guide-2/

Any chance this patch would stop me from getting 2560x1600 resolution with either card?
Just picked up a Gateway xhd3000 and I get 2048 x 1536 no problem?? Connected via dvi.. Just flashes a screen repeatedly like its trying to grab 2560x1600 but cant hold it and reverts back to 2048......Well just wonderin if anyone else has had any issues like this...or ideas as to why im limited?

To get to 2560x1600 resolution you need a dual link DVI-D cable. You can get them pretty much at any tech shop or e-tailer.I know this because I just went through the same thing. The cable I was using was fine for 1920x1200 res but when I upped the ante to a 30in Dell monitor I needed to get another DVI cable to play at the monitors native res.

I recently picked this up for $75. Going to pair it with my 4870x2. From what I've read it should be more than enough for physics processing.

Yeah, that is more than enough. Even my 8800GS runs all games that use PhysX without any slowdowns at all in my rig.

Problem is I am getting 2048 x 1536 no porob let alone 1920x1200.... Just for giggles ran up to bestbuy and got another dual dvi cable for $70, same results wont hit 2560 x 1600... I see it flash on and off repeatedly and then just reverts back to the 2048 x 1536 res....ive tried adjusting the refresh but it only shows 60hz on everything except 1280x800 and that has 59 hz??? Im seriously bummed at this cant seem to figure it out? Ive tried it alone on my 4870x2 alone on a 285gtx with both no matter which way I do it it maxed at the 2048?? I seen a DVI to HDMI cable maybe I could try that port ?

Try the other DVI port on the card

If that doesnt work you need to get the cable tested and/or the monitor. Could be a bios issue with the card as well. Some Asus 4870X2's wouldnt run 2560x1600 sometimes so it might have spread by now..

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.

I'm getting a HD5850, so the 9600GT will became for PhysX only
but, one question, will my PSU by enough to supply a 9600GT, a HD5850 and an overclocked X4 940 (1.475v+)?

Would an old 8800GT-256 work fine for PhysX? I Don't know how much the card memory affects it lol.

@ Lokinhow, your PSU should do the job. The ATI HD5850 is not very power thirsty.

@ Bobsama, an 8800GT 256MB should do a fine job for PhysX. You only need a card with 256MB of RAM for GPU PhysX and the 8800GT has the same 112 stream processors as the 9800GT the guy above is planning on using.

Don't ask how or why but it working....???
I did rinsytall win 7 but i dont even think thats why its working.
it did the same thing , flashing the 2560 resolution but then reverting back to the 2048... But during one of maybe 70 attempts i hit the power button as it flashed just for kicks... and wouldnt ya know it? it caught... I had to do it one more time after i rebooted but now its comming right up from boot as 2560 x 1600... and might I say I am amazed....what a picture as a bonus I get to return the 70+$ cable as the one it came with works as well

    Thanks

Oh sweet beautiful physics. For both runs MSAA was set to x8. However, even when set to NONE it still shows x8 in the final result screen. Weird.

    Title is very misleading

Hack gets PhysX and Radeon working again

AGAIN made me think of when the 3870 could be used for PhysX

I have HD 3870 as primary card Is it worth to made it computing PhysX? I am afraid performance (even 915 MHz+) is not so high and PhysX enabled would make FPS fall drastically.

    niiice, it's working!

I did some testing with Batman AA, setting differents clocks on my 9600GT

    médio fps = avarage fps

hope it will be usefull for people who are trying to do this

Lokinhow, what version of the NV drivers are you using? Also, how did you disable physics for your test? When I disable physics in the NV driver it doesn't seem to want to stay disabled.

Batman AA, FluidMark, NV PhysX demos, etc. all work just fine with my 4870x2 and 9800GTEE. However, when I run Vantage it sits at the physics tests for quite awhile and if it doesn't crash there it will crash at some point after the physics tests. I didn't have this issue prior to installing the physics card.

    I'm using ForceWare 195.62

To disable I "desconected" the fake display that is "conected" to the 9600GT, when I do this PhysX gets completely disabled

I currently have my 9800GTEE connected to a spare input port on my monitor. What do you mean by the "fake display" you "connected?" Did you create one of those custom adapters to trick the card?

no custom adapters, I did this:

after install the hack and reboot the system -> right-click on desktop -> Screen Resolution -> DETECT
It will show a non existing display and will say it is connected to the Nvidia card
Select that display -> connect anyway to: VGA -> Apply -> extend desktop -> Apply

After this, the Nvidia control panel will be accessible, so you can turn the PhysX on

well, that's how a did it, to turn off PhysX I just have to go again to "Screen resolution" and desconect the "fake" display (sometimes it works to turn off PhyX on Nvidia control panel, but not always.. dunno why)

    hmm ):
    What hack did you tried?
The PhysX patch 1.01 didn't work for me, but the 1.02 worked perfectly

I was pessimistic about the PSU, so I tried running Prime95 +3dmark to see if something happens, and it worked perfectly, so I think this PSU is capable
