    230whp on a mustang dyno = about 250-255whp on a real dyno.(dynojet)

@pez: have you had clutch problems with your 3kgt? i remember my friends SL, went thru about 4 clutches before he finally ditched it. met a guy in san antonio who had a vr4 with the same issue.(i think he had converted to a hydraulic setup or something to fix it)

A dyno is a dyno. There is no such thing as a real dyno, and a fake dyno. There are two main types of dynamometers used today, eddy current dynos and inertia dynos.

Inertia dynos use very very heavy drums and calculate how fast the car is accelerating the drums to give you a horse power reading. This is the kind of dyno that requires you to be in a certain gear as a lower gear can give false readings although software can compensate and adjust the readings. These dynos usually have issues with cars/trucks with large turbos because often by the time the turbos are spooled, the drums are already near maximum speed.

Eddy Current dynos often use lighter drums and can put an actual load on the vehicle. Think of an inertia dyno as spinning a large weight by hand, while an eddy current dyno as spinning a generator with a load on it by hand. Eddy current dynos are typically called "tuning dynos" because they can hold a specific RPM/wheel speed so you can making tuning changes on the fly and see how they are effecting performance. They can also use that ability to hold a certain RPM/wheel speed to let turbo chargers spool up before beginning the actual dyno run.

DynoJet and Mustang Dyno make both kinds of dynos.

1989 BMW 325i(coupe) with 350k miles still works like it did 5 years ago (or 10 , or 15 for that matter ) has working AC , all electric ...
The only new things on it are a PSP(gps) and a Clarion 8 hundred something + Mac amps + Infinity speakers .
I hope it will get to 25 years so I can pass it to classics .
When ill get a new one it will be a non-turbo Legacy or an RX8 .

most people prefer dynojets as they are more accurate than a mustang dyno. which is the point i was making, sorry my sarcasm didnt make it through.

I am going to go ahead and disagree with this one. Most people who really care use a SuperFlow for accurate numbers. All the bench racers prefer the Dynojet for inflated numbers. I see a lot of "dyno days" where a dynojet operator will bump the correction factor to make everyone happy.

    Dynos=tuning tools not number producers.

the best way IMO to estimate numbers is to go run the 1/4 and calculate off trap speed.

    Hey guys,
I feel very proud to say that i own the car which is a dream for many of people. I am an owner of "Mercedes maclaren Slr".

The SLR sports a 232 kg (510 lb) hand-built 5,439 cc (5.439 L; 331.9 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminium, SOHC V8 engine. The cylinders are angled at 90 degrees with three valves per cylinder and lubricated via a dry sump system. The compression ratio is 8.8:1 and the bore and stroke is 97 millimetre (3.82 in) and 92 millimeters (3.62 in), respectively. The Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger rotates at 23000 revolutions per minute and produces 0.9 bar (13 psi) of boost. The compressed air is then cooled via two intercoolers. The engine generates a maximum power of 626 PS (460 kW; 617 hp)@6500rpm and maximum torque of 780 N·m (580 lb·ft)@3250-5000rpm.
    I love my car.

Never understood why people like Mercedes so much. More money than sense, I suppose.

Anyway, I have a 2008 f150 (5.4L, 4x4, tow package). My other half drives a 2006 escape. Believe it or not the escape is pretty zippy.

One day I will buy my shelby though. Hopefully within the next 10 years... lol
