    SAPPHIRE HD5970 (Very) Quick Test

    Hi fellas,

Yesterday I found these 2 beauties in my friend's office(local SAPPHIRE distributor), and decided to take these 2 to my home and do some quick tests.

Since I've only given very limited time (approx. 8 hours) to do the testing( today these car is sent out to the local media for review), I just grab a couple kilos of dry ice, and just use whatever peripheral that is available at the moment.

This is a very quick run, the CPU Temperature is only -42 / -43 during all the benchmarks(don't know whether it is a bad contact or faulty probe placement), all the variables haven't been optimized since I barely know this card yet..(and to top it off, I'm a VERY lousy 3D Benchmarker )

So I really apologize If the scores wasn't as optimal as you guys would have expected

    A. Test Specs

    CPU : Core i7 975 Extreme
    Mobo : ASRock X58 Extreme, L.1.11 BIOS
    RAM : Muscle Power(Elpida BBSE) DDR3-2000C9 3x2GB kit
    VGA : SAPPHIRE HD5970 2GB x2(QuadFire)
    HDD : Seagate 7200.10 250GB 7200rpm
    PSU : Enermax REVO 85+ 1050W
    * Note : Peak Power Consumption from wall outlet, with QuadFire configuration can reach as high as 880-902W in 3DMarkVantage GameTest2, and reached as high as 940W in 3DMark03 Nature *

    CPU Cooling : 2.5" Semi-solid Dice pot
GPU Cooling : Stock HSF @ 100% *VERY LOUD*
CoolerMaster Test Bench v1.0 * Thx CoolerMaster TW *

    OS : Win 7 RTM 32-bit
Driver VGA : Whatrver that was in the VGA Driver CD
OC Software : MSI Afterburner 1.4.0 (set vGPU to 1.3V)

    Wow, it's so LONG

OK, let's get the number going then..

    B. Single Card result

    3DMark2003 Single

    3DMark2005 Single

    3DMark2006 Single

    3DMarkVantage Single

    C. Multi Card Result

    3DMark2003 QF

    3DMark2005 QF

    3DMark2006 QF

    3DMarkVantage QF

This card REALLY shines in 03 and vantage..

If a complete n00b in 3d like me can pull this kind of numbers from merely 4-5 hours of benching, just imagine IF this card falls to the RIGHT hands and tweaked properly
    * I'm getting goosebumps just from thinking about it *

And I guess It's not long until we see this card dominating the Hwbot

Well then, that's it for now,

    Regards,

    Nah, of course not

Those 2 cards were meant to be sent out for local IT Media/Magazines to be reviewed, my friend who worked at the local distributor simply lending me the card before they sent it out today

hey bro, pretty sure you need to "own" the cards to post scores on hwbot. Might want to look into that.

Look, I'm sorry If my putting these scores on the bot without me being the 'actual' owner of the Cards offend you guys,

I'm rather new at the bot, but let me explain my point of view :

At the Hwbot General Rules and Guidelines, there is a rule about manufacturer hardware being posted in Hwbot

Please take a look at point no.2(in bold).

In this case, the Sapphire local distributor lent me the hardware(though only for a very little of time) to post the overclocking review of those cards, in my local forum(CHIP Indonesia), and some others forum I might want to post it to. And this isn't the first time they asked me to do a review of their vgas, I've been doing it since 2007, but never actually posted here because apparently the result wasn't 'extreme' enough(i only post it on my local forum)

From my understanding, since they(sapphire local distributor) lent me those cards for review(although they were not a manufacturer, just an Indonesian Local Distributor), so I think I have the right to post the scores on the bot(and gain points from that).

Could someone help me clarify whether my actions were wrong?

I am 100% willing to delete all those results from the bot if my understanding of this point was mistaken, I just need to know where I was wrong, so I won't do it again in the future,

    Regards,

Nice results, and posting on hwbot seems valid looking at the rules you quoted?

Wow, i smell jealousy. None of your buisness if they are not his cards. And almost ALL review sites get sent cards that they have to give back.

Nice scores BTW. These cards surely are monsters.
